Lenovo IdeaPad U330

The Lenovo IdeaPad U330 is a well-rounded 4.2-pound ultraportable that's got some cool features and some stiff competition.

Lightweight. HDMI-out port. Comfortable keyboard. Silent mouse buttons. Switchable graphics. Good-size battery. Impressive performance scores.

Small-business look. Only two USB ports.

Review Lenovo IdeaPad U330p Notebook

Is good necessarily expensive? Our editorial office got the IdeaP

High-quality aluminum case; Large touchpad; Matte display

Very low display brightness; CPU and GPU cannot use their full potential under combined load; Mediocre WLAN performance; Bad speakers; No maintenance cover

Other subnotebooks with low price tags, for example the Asus VivoBook S300CA, the Toshiba Satellite L830 15L and the MSI S30 i3U465.

Lenovo IdeaPad U330 Review

The design of the Lenovo U330 is very visually pleasing, with a low profile chassis, super thin LCD, and high gloss display cover. On the inside it has a pinstripe paint scheme with glossy touch-sensitive media controls. The frameless display looks...

LCD has good contrast and great colors ; Solid performance in dedicated and integrated graphics mode ; Switchable graphics doesn't require a reboot ; Good cooling system

Some paint defects (could be a limited problem with our particular review unit) ; Frameless screen is very reflective

Thermal performance of the Lenovo U330 was very nice, keeping its cool in both integrated and dedicated graphics modes. System fan noise is minimal under light use, staying at a constant low speed. Under higher levels of stress the fan kicks up in...

Lenovo Ideapad U330 User Review

The Ideapad U330 is Lenovo's 13.3" notebook built with Intel's Montevina platform and AMD's switchable graphics technology. The latter feature is unique to the U330 compared to other 13.3" competitors such as the Dell XPS 1330, Apple Macbook based on...

Can be found for less than $1,000 on sale ; Thin-and-light for a 13.3" notebook ; Bright LED screen ; Switchable graphics for graphics power only when you need it ; Cool and quiet while on battery

Only two USB ports ; Warm and loud operation while plugged-in ; Still doesn't feel like a finished product as power management and fan control seems lacking

The Lenovo Ideapad U330 is a decent consumer level notebook featuring a bright screen, switchable graphics, a thin form factor, and light weight. Moreover, some preloaded of software such as Lenovo's VeriFace are actually nice and useful. Nonetheless,...

Review: Lenovo IdeaPad U330

Aside from the explosion of the netbook, the other big portable computing story of 2008 was the growth of the 13-inch form-factor. It's become a hotbed of competition and every company is getting in on this combination of usability and mobility. The...

Lenovo IdeaPad U330

A sweet laptop with a sour price.

Good performance, stylish, excellent keyboard, very good screen, good variety of ports

Lacks Gigabit Ethernet, VeriFace can be tricked, expensive

The Lenovo IdeaPad U330 is a device with lots going for it. Apart from the excellent keyboard, strong hardware and attractive design, the unit also has a great screen and a large variety of ports. Unfortunately, this quality is reflected in its high...
