Review Panasonic Toughbook CF-W8 Notebook

Business Ruggedized. Panasonic wants to collect points from their

Robust magnesium alloy; Low total weight; Good application performance; Long warranty of 3 years; Long battery life; Integrated optical drive; Comprehensive communication configuration

High price; Fairly dark screen

Business notebooks that comply with the "business-rugged" standard in a 12.1 size. The Latitude E6400 XFR, which we were allowed to put to a brief test, even complies with the "full-rugged" standard, but is also more expensive.

Panasonic Toughbook F8

There's something deceptively fierce-looking about the Panasonic ToughBook CF-F8. This business-ruggedized laptop comes with a handle, daring you to mess with it. So when I snatch it off the Test Center workbench, I'm surprised at how light this tiny...

Solid construction, surprisingly light ; Great keyboard

Touchpad a little too tiny ; Colors get a little washed out

Semi-rugged construction and good performance make the CF-F8 a pricey - but perfect - choice for the klutzy business person.

Panasonic Toughbook F8

The business-rugged Toughbook F8 delivers more power, outstanding battery life, a 14.1-inch screen, and an onboard optical drive in a 3.7-pound package. But it will cost you.

On balance, the strengths of the Toughbook F8 outweigh the drawbacks. Yes, a streamlined design, better speakers, and more varied port selection would improve the machine, but those are nits considering you're getting a 14.1-inch screen, optical drive,...

Panasonic's CF-F8 is one of the lighter Toughbooks, so is it worth it?

Panasonic Toughbook CF-F8 review

An Intel dual-core processor and 3GB RAM fire the ruggedised, 14in Panasonic Toughbook CF-F8 laptop to an impressive WorldBench 6 benchmark of 97. But you won't get to use such speed in Windows 7, as the Panasonic Toughbook CF-F8 comes only with Vista...

The Panasonic CF-F8 Toughbook offers great performance in a challenging shell. If you can get used to the slightly cramped typing position, it’s a fine option for the business road warrior.
