Consumer review (newegg.com)

Good, but going with a better deal.

First unit arrived DOA. Seems to be a common problem, as it was shipped in only the box it would be displayed in if in a store. Newegg shipped it correctly the second time, no issues. If you order, you may want to request they ship it in a box with...

Great construction, does not feel cheap or flimsy, but not at the cost of adding weight either. Easy to install hardware, boot/installation was a breeze ; Running Ubuntu 10.04 and EVERYTHING works as it should. I did not have to hunt down and compile...

Battery life seems to be a bit short, but it is to be expected for a 3 cell battery ; Keyboard key placement is a little awkward. They moved the Fn key to where the left Ctrl key should be, which gets me many times a day as I use hotkeys like they are...

Very Impressed So Far

This is for you guys at Newegg - I read that a lot of people get these and they are DOA, well one thing i noticed when the friendly UPS guy dropped it off yesterday...it was shipped in the retail carton. Not the nice pretty retail carton inside a box...

Easy to set up right out of the box. Added WD 120gb hdd and 2 gb ram. Booted and installed a linux variation and so far everything is just fine. Fast, peppy system, writing this review with it actually

Echoing what others have said, the keyboard is a little awkward, even after typing on a laptop for years ; If you buy one of these, and I hope that someone from ZOTAC reads this, GET BETTER SCREWS FOR THE HDD. The ones that come with the system suck....

I wanted a DIY netbook

I have to echo the sentiments of several other reviewers. I bought this kit with the hopes of building a custom netbook. I really, really wanted a custom netbook. I mean, really bad. Terribly. Unfortunately, my model was DOA. After reading through a...

DIY netbook is so appealing

DOA. The keyboard felt cramped for the short time that I had it, and the touchpad was small, even for a netbook. I previously owned an MSI Wind u100, and so I have a frame of reference for these things

Beautiful Netbook

I'm running Ubuntu 10.4 Beta, 2 gigs of ram, and a 250 gig hard drive. Everything works, the web cam, even the 3d graphics. Ubuntu works right out of the box. The mouse pad is small but works really good. You tube video is good. If you want a great...

To many to list. A beautiful Ubuntu notebook!!! I'm using my notebook now to write this review

Keyboard takes a little to get use to.....I have seen worse on full size laptops. Speakers are really weak but they do work. Could use a bigger battery but its still decent. None of the items listed would require a lower rating

Zotac SAM102

You get what you pay for....

Price, if successful rebate and spare parts on hand. 3 USB, 2 mini PCI-E, zippy performance. Easy access for hardware installation. Fairly sturdy construction. Runs many flavors of Linux, WinXP, Win7 & Hackintosh with sound fix

Battery life, flimsy keyboard and weak wireless card. Too many complaints on product/RMA from other buyers. Questionable rebate success. Product registration had to be completed by contacting customer service as I received the same message that product...

Zotac SAM102 Intel 945GSE 10" Netbook Barebone

So far, I love this little netbook. I got it to replace a 14" sony vaio that had a dying lcd (my son got it wet and it now has huge black spots on it...gonna turn it into a headless server). I was at first worried about the screen size being too small,...

Well built, feels pretty solid. Super simple to put the memory and hard drive in. Decent speed running Ubuntu and Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Screen looks great and the batter life seems pretty good so far

Keyboard is a little small (but this is to be expected). Also, the key layout is a little odd, i.e. the home and up arrow are right where you would expect the right shift key to be, so that takes some getting used to. Also, the left ctrl is to the...

Just ordered a 6-cell

This is my first netbook. To see what it can do and to show off, added 2 GB, 320 GB 7200 RPM, dual boot W7 Ultimate with Office 2010 Pro Plus and XP Pro with Office 2007 Pro Enterprise; works fine other than Atom-slow. Added Synaptics driver.

Price, if MIR materializes. Good, clean mechanical design. Express card 34. 6-cell now available for $55 shipped

3-cell battery life. BIOS needs updating to fix Sleep anomalies. Trial launch USA only, may end up an orphan. Had to RMA first one, defective LAN port

Happy Buyer

Excellent product, primarily if you have parts laying around the house, or find a sale on memory or hard drives.

I purchased 3 of these units for my kids, installed windows 7, and 1gb of ram in each, and 40 gb hd's in two, and a 100 gb hd in one . This unit is amazing for the price. I plan on ordering 2 more

The screws included to mount the hard drives don't fit, had to find new ones

Good netbook, Worst mail-in rebate

SAM 102 is actually a good performance netbook. I am impressed by the sturdy, simple look. Putting in the ram and hard drive require is easy and intuitive. Good for general uses and web surfing. Got it on black friday sale so I get what I paid for

Fan is noisy compared to ASUS Eee (which is completely a silence). Sometimes it can be so HOT (i.e. while watching online videos) that it burns my lap. One egg down ; As of now, it's been more than 3 months, but my $50 mail-in rebate hasn't yet...

Super easy to set up

for 275, a personal netbook with a camera and wireless network adapter, 1 gig of ram and a 32 gig ssd and usability within 10 minutes, it can't get much better. Love it so much. the keyboard takes a little getting used to but for the most part, perfect...

I am running ubuntu. They are amazing. The drivers needed for everything are on here...no complicated terminal stuff. dual processor good. running with a ssd. Installed ubuntu from a sd card with the .iso file installed on it. So great. Just what i was...
