Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM Lens

Until it was replaced by the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM Lens, the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM Lens was my first choice for a full-frame, wide field of view, low light lens

with a 24-XXmm and/or 70-XXXmm or similar focal length range lens(es)

Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM Lens

The Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM Lens is what I consider one of the most important lenses in Canon's lineup. Taking over the ultra-wide angle position of the available professional grade f/2.8 zoom lenses from the Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 L USM Lens,...

Although it has proven extremely time consuming, I completely evaluated two copies of this lens - purchased from two different retailers. This included shooting the ISO 12233 chart test with both lenses - with the intent of allowing either to be...

Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II Lens Review

The Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L II is a professional grade ultra wide angle lens that produces perfectly sharp and color saturated images. This lens is the second revision of 16-35mm wide angle lenses Canon has

Canon EF 16–35mm f/2.8L II USM AF

Replacing Canon's original 16-35mm f/2.8L of 2001, this full-frame ultrawide for pros ($1,450, street) has two UD glass elements to suppress chromatic aberrations, and three aspheric elements to minimize linear distortion. A 26-56mm equivalent on APS-C...

Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L USM EF Review Round-Up

The Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8 USM L was able to produce a very good performance in most aspects. The center resolution of the lens is exceptionally high regardless of the zoom and aperture settings. The border performance is lower specifically towards the...

Canon 35mm f/1.4 USM L EF Review Round-Up

The Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 USM L is highly regarded in the Canon community and it also shows in the lab. The resolution figures are exceptional and among the best tested so far. Typical for ultra-large aperture lenses vignetting is a little on the high...

Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM Lens Reviews

I'm very pleased with the image quality I'm getting from this lens. Wide open results are very sharp in the center and improve only slightly stopped down. Wide angle full frame corners, though not perfect, are very good for a lens this wide – the best...

What can’t be shown by MTF graphs and pictures of lens test charts is the amazing quality of the images from this lens. They have that certain something you can’t quite put your finger on. A beautiful rich colour and contrast coupled with a sharpness...

Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM Lens Reviews

At 16mm, the 16-35 L is very sharp in the center even wide open (f/2.8) and improves little when stopped down. The 16mm full-frame corners are soft wide open (with a flat target – because of field curvature) and improve noticeably at f/5.6. At 16mm...

this lens is an excellent choice for your line-up of quality lenses. i am slowly converting to an all L-series line-up, all f/2.8 lenses. i cannot stress enough how amazingly beautiful this lens is, as well as all of the other L series.

Product Specifications

The EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM is a high performance, water-resistant, and ultra wide-angle Canon L-series lens. It has been specifically designed for improved edge-to-edge image quality that will meet the strict requirements of professional and high-end amateur photographers. It features 3 high-precision aspherical lens elements, each of a different type: ground, replica and GMo for even better image quality than the original EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM. The circular aperture produces a beautiful and natural background blur when shooting at wider apertures. Other features include internal focusing, a ring type USM (Ultra Sonic Monitor), and new AF algorithms for fast and quiet autofocusing.
