Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM

The EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM improves upon the first version of the lens, but isn't the best 24-105mm available for the Canon system.

Constant f/4 aperture. 4.4x zoom range. Minimal vignette. Optical image stabilization. 1:4.3 macro magnification. Solid construction. Fluorine coating.

Constant f/4 aperture. 4.4x zoom range. Minimal vignette. Optical image stabilization. 1:4.3 macro magnification. Solid construction. Fluorine coating. ; Sharpness suffers at telephoto focal lengths. Visible distortion.

The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM is a solid upgrade to its predecessor, a lens with some flaws that prevented us from enthusiastically recommending it when we reviewed it. It delivers sharper results with less distortion, but still suffers from a...

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM

The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens delivers strong sharpness at wide angles, but image quality really suffers when zoomed in—overall, it's priced too high for the performance it delivers.

Long zoom range. Fixed maximum aperture. Solid L-series build. Excellent sharpness at wider angles. Optical stabilization. 1:4.3 macro magnification.

Heavy distortion and noticeable vignette at wide angles. Very soft edges at longer focal lengths. Pricey.

Conclusions There's no way around it, the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM underperforms, especially when you consider its price tag and its place in Canon's illustrious L lineup. It promises a longer zoom range than the EF 24-70mm f/4L IS but doesn't...

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM Lens Review

The announcement of the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM Lens drew a lot of anticipation. The predecessor was famously popular and a "II" version was sure to be even better. Canon has been delivering some incredibly sharp zoom lenses recently and hopes...

Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L II Tilt-Shift Lens

The Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L II Tilt-Shift Lens is, optically and physically, the highest quality 24mm Canon-mount lens I've reviewed to date.

Canon EF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens

The Canon EF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens is light in weight and light on your wallet. If you want a Canon zoom lens and can't spend a lot of money, the 24-85 is a reasonable choice for a 1.6x FOVCF DSLR

Weighing less than 1 lb (13.4 oz / 380g) and measuring (2.9" x 2.7" / 73.0mm x 69.5mm DxL) when retracted, the Canon EF 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Lens is an easy-to-take-with-you lens.

Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L Tilt-Shift Lens

The Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L Tilt-Shift Lens is (currently) Canon's only L Series Tilt-Shift lens. It is a great choice for architecture and wide landscape photography

CA (Chromatic Aberration) is a bit of a weakness for the Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L Tilt-Shift Lens - especially in the corners on a full frame body. CA becomes more noticeable as the lens is tilted/shifted. Slight light fall-off is noticeable through f/4...

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM Review

The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM is an excellent standard zoom lens that, as you'd perhaps expect, is much better than the 10-year-old Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM that it replaces, which incidentally is one of Canon's most popular lenses.

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM review

The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM is a sharper and altogether better upgrade

Improved image quality ; Enhanced optical stabilization ; Weather-sealed construction

Mediocre long-zoom sharpness ; Pricier than the equivalent Sigma

The original edition of this lens was something of a kit zoom classic but left plenty of room for improvement. With its redesigned optical layout, improved build quality and uprated image stabilizer, the Mark II is a much more appealing proposition and...

Canon TS

It costs a fortune (US$ 1100) and weighs a half-kilo. It's not sharp, being an SLR ultra-wide-angle in addition to spreading its meagre resolution across a medium-format image circle. However, you already know the TS-E lenses tilt and shift, so you're...
