Hauppauge HD PVR

 

Records HD programming without copy protection concerns (via the "analog hole"). Burns Blu-ray-compatible, high-definition DVDs. High-quality audio and component video cables included.

Doesn't function as a standalone DVR. Complex setup involves multiple software packages. Remote is nonfunctional with bundled software.

Tech-savvy enthusiasts looking to grab high-definition video from various sources—such as a game console or existing DVR—will love Hauppauge's HD PVR, but mainstream consumers pining for an easy DVR replacement without monthly fees should look elsewhere.

This product is great. I can now take movies and TV shows from my satellite DVR and record them on MY BOOK portable hard drive. This allows me to play them back at a later time. The playback is with a WD TV live media player. This is true HD playback....

Easy setup. The recorded video is choppy unless you set it to the highest quality, could be my computer. The recorded video is crystal clear, the only down fall is it takes about 9 gigs for a movie.

I have been at it for 30 days, trying to set this up. Now I got it to work, sometimes. Most of the time it records the wrong channel. Then it will change channels twice, then gives an error message,
