Xerox Phaser 7400N

The Xerox Phaser 7400N is one of the least expensive and fastest color laser printers available for tabloid size (and larger) output.

Fast performance. Low price for a tabloid color laser. Very good paper handling, with a 3,000-sheet maximum capacity, a finisher option, and banner-size output.

Graphics quality relatively low for a color laser.

Don't miss the Xerox 7400N's Ratings and Test Results.

Xerox Phaser 7400

So what of those features that, in Xerox's words, "enhance the customer experience"? Well, we have to say that the front LCD panel on the Phaser 7400 is one of the clearest and most informative we've seen; by comparison, the OKI's was a little limited...

Second-fastest mono document printing on test, clear and informative front panel display

Utilities built for PowerPC applications which leads to inefficient processor use

Comparison with the C9650N in our Word document print-speed test was instructive: the Xerox managed 50 pages in an average 1 minute 25.74 seconds, which translates to just under 35 pages per minute. We had slight reservations about sharpness at small...

Phaser 7400

Xerox may be known to designers for high-spec laser printers, but the Phaser 7400 is a low-cost A3+ unit going up against the likes of HP's Color LaserJet 5550 and Oki's C9600.

Low-cost, fast, with good output quality for the price.

Quality may not be high enough for many design studios.

For its price, the Phaser 7400 offers a great combination of speed and adequate quality, though it many not be high enough for the needs of a creative studio

PRINT SMEARS! EXPENSIVE!

We purchased this in Feb 07 to print our small design business brochures. I was very pleased with the results for about the first 5 months at which point the white void areas of the prints progressively became dirty, grey, smeared, especially along ...

Prints really well initially

Poor print quality eventually

Fast, crisp, concise, simple and inexpensive!

I run a print shop for churches. We do a LOT of color printing. 8.5x11 is "dead" in my industry, and everyone wants more than just 11x17, they want 11x17 full bleed. Most offices should, too. I'd even venture that most print designers who work from ...

Inexpensive toner, toner/drums separate, incredible color quality, fast warm-up, great paper handling
