Sharp XV-Z15000 DLP Projector

Sharp has a long history in the home theater projector business. It began with a successful run of LCD models. But the company soon shifted its projectors to Texas Instruments' DLP technology, which appeared to be ready to dominate the projection...

The Sharp's remote is compact and offers direct selection of inputs, picture modes, and IRIS1 and IRIS2. However, unlike the Epson's remote, it lacks backlighting, and its small, closely spaced buttons aren't easy to locate in the dark.

Sharp XV-Z15000

The Sharp XV-Z15000, however, is a very well balanced performer. And, like many DLP projectors in particular, its picture quality consistently looks good. After Mike calibrated the projector, I spent a lot of time viewing it on the usual Blu-ray (and...

Good "out of the box" picture quality (Natural mode, Dynamic) ; Very good color accuracy post calibration in best mode (Movie 2) ; Excellent black level performance for the price, one of the best lower cost projectors in this regard ; Great picture...

The remote control for several reasons, starting with the lack of a backlight ; Extremely limited placement flexibility, no lens shift ; Lens does not have great depth of field, as a result there is more roll off in sharpness toward the outside of the...

Overall, this is an excellent projector. If you can get over any placement issues, it seems to me that the Sharp XV-Z15000 is the strongest performing new DLP projector to hit the market recently in it's price range. This Sharp definitely is up to...

Sharp XVZ15000 home theatre projector

The Sharp XVZ15000 is a Full HD 1080p home theatre projector with reasonable specifications. It has a high price tag but still competes strongly with ...

Good natural colour, 24p support, good design, quiet fan

Expensive, auto-iris isn’t the fastest

Sharp’s XVZ15000 home theatre projector is competitive with models from Epson and Mitsubishi, with consistently good colour and brightness. We aren't thrilled with its high price tag, however.

Product Specifications

The XV-Z15000 provides Full HD high-resolution pictures with 1920 x 1080 pixels and greater capability for large-screen pictures to prevent rough, grainy colors. And, the panel is compatible with next-generation digital broadcast systems. Incorporating Sharp optoelectronics technology, the XV-Z15000 provides 1600 ANSI lumen brightness in high-brightness mode to enjoy large-screen pictures. Employing a thoroughly developed optical engine with a DLP chip reflective device, which can prevent light from coming through by controlling mirror angles, the XV-Z15000 enhances fine, detailed differences between the darkest and lightest colors and provides superior black level reproduction. Real blacks and clearly reproduced subtle colors provide impressively beautiful pictures. The XV-Z15000 is equipped with two HDMI inputs in addition to various other video inputs, such as two component inputs, S-video inputs and composite inputs.
