JVC RX-D702B

The All-Digital, All-New JVC RX-D702B Receiver can connect directly to your PC via USB or wirelessly, to stream music from your MP3 collection.

Integrated two-port HDMI switch. Digital amplifier and signal processing. Slim profile and great looks. USB connection to PC or Mac OS X.

Runs hot. On-screen menus are 480i only. Wireless dongle has a short range.

Performance

JVC RX-D702B

7.1-channel A/V receiver; HDMI switching; converts composite, component, and S-Video sources to HDMI; USB wireless connection for PCs; onscreen display appears on HDMI; 150 watts per channel; low-profile chassis.

Inaccurate autosetup; especially tedious manual setup; no multiroom or multisource capability; runs hot.

JVC's good-sounding HDMI switching/upconverting RX-D702 receiver sets a new standard for features in the sub-$1,000 category.

The JVC RX-D702B Audio/Video Control Receiver

What are the "unique" convenience features? How about an optional set up procedure that turns your speakers into microphones and uses a handclap to set speaker distances and output levels? Or a USB-based 2.4 GHz transmitter that streams wireless music...

The JVC RX-D702B Audio/Video Control Receiver

HDMI switching and upconversion are but two of the many standout features incorporated into the RX-D702B, JVC's newest, slick-looking 7.1-channel A/V receiver. Despite its low profile and compact size, this 17 lb. AVR contains seven of JVC's Hybrid...

Compact, attractive looking package

Dense, difficult instruction manual

Despite all of my grousing, it was, in fact, love at first sight when I was introduced to the RX-D702 at a JVC press event last year. This is an impressive, feature-packed A/V receiver housed in a very compact package, and priced astonishingly low....

JVC RX-D702B A/V Receiver

During the first hour that the JVC RX-D702B surround receiver sat on my rack, it began to wirelessly suck MP3s out of my PC. Then it sensed the clapping of my hands and automatically set its channel levels. Unpredictable moves are typical of JVC, one...

JVC has scored a couple of major coups with the RX-D702B. It's not only easy to set up, but easy to set up fairly accurately, matching convenience with performance. This incredibly-no, credibly-ambitious receiver is a credit to the long tradition of...
