Marantz SR8001 THX Select2 7.1 A/V Receiver

As much as I enjoyed reviewing the Marantz SR7500 receiver (was it really 18 months ago?), at the time I found myself lusting over the next-in-line receiver, the 8500 ...

Marantz SR8001 7.1-Channel THX Select2 A/V Receiver

Detail oriented readers may have noticed that the TPV Audio and Video labs have taken turns using Marantz's flagship SR9600 A/V receiver to power their respective reference systems. Frankly, we chose the Marantz because it's a great-sounding component...

Marantz SR8001 Receiver: On the Bench

Marantz SR8001 review

Does doubling up on HDMIs get the job done?

Smooth and powerful ; Capable of high volume and multichannel mayhem

Restrained at low volumes ; No networking ; EQ system hit and miss

Does an awful lot of things right, but it's still best to try before you buy

A QUALITY REVEIVER, FUTURE PROOFED THAT PACKS A PUNCH

Second from top of the range Marnatz. The difference between the two in my opinion is marginal. The more expensive one boasts a better power supply which the benefits of which are debatable. I did a vast amount of reaserch before I purchased and in my...

Build quality, power, features and ease of use.

Set aside a weekend to program the remote however it does come with phone-book-sized instructions. If you don't need to set up macros on the remote and fancy things like that, then it is as any other remote.
