Review: Musical Fidelity AMS35i Amplifier

The Musical Fidelity AMS35i is very big, very heavy, very hot, and very expensive…but it sounds absolutely glorious and, thanks to its Class-A design, completely different…

Thank you for searching out Australian HI-FI Magazine’s equipment review and laboratory test of the Musical Fidelity AMS35i Integrated Amplifier originally published in Australian Hi-Fi Magazine, January/February 2010 (Volume 41 Number 1).

Musical Fidelity A220 Integrated Amplifiers

This is a GREAT integrated amplifier! Compares very, very favorably to Class A Pass Aleph (I have both). Tube like midrange, warm articulate sound, full bass, low distortion. Plenty of power.

Musical Fidelity A3.5 Integrated Amplifiers

In short, this is without doubt the best amp I have ever owned and one of the most flexible I have ever listened to. I worked in a hi-fi shop for many years, selling Cyrus, Audiolab and similar products. I've heard little to beat this fella - even at...

Musical Fidelity A3.5 Integrated Amplifiers

The A3.5 Amp is a joy to listen to and has the sonic punch to keep a beat with any music. I own the A5.5 which is also a great Amp, and I would put it on par with this Amp with a little less bass. It has more than enough power to please and it put my...

Product Specifications

The A3CR is a beautiful preamplifier. Its luxurious silver faceplate sports gold-plated accent trim around the large centrally located volume knob (with a resulting "porthole" effect you will either love or hate) and for the full width of the chassis along the bottom. The volume control is nicely textured for that favorable "tactile impression" and an inset red LED makes changes in its position readily apparent from across the room. The power button, tape monitor, and six source buttons (phono, CD, tuner, aux 1, SACD, tape) are metal, buffered by latex pads for a luxe feel (and all of them have red LED indicators, again facilitating remote operation). The Musical Fidelity A3CR is one of those rare audio products that can be recommended without reservation.
