Onkyo TX-NR626

AV receivers are supposed to have inputs and outputs for everything, but manufacturers have been surprisingly slow to meet modern needs , especially when it comes to wireless audio streaming.

The Onkyo TX-NR626 is an excellent value, packing both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth at a midrange price. There are six HDMI inputs, plus a dedicated turntable input -- a rarity these days. Onboard streaming-audio support is extensive, including Pandora,...

There's no AirPlay, which competitors offer for less money. The TX-NR626's built-in Audyssey speaker calibration also delivered inconsistent results.

Onkyo's TX-NR626 is a value-packed AV receiver with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and even a turntable input, but it's just short of being our top pick.

Onkyo TX-NR626 AV Receiver Reviewed

The Onkyo TX-NR626 AV receiver fell on Sean Killebrew to review. Killebrew tested out the TX-NR626 and came away from the review with a refreshing sentiment. It works. It just plain works.

It's really refreshing when something just plain works, especially when you're talking about cutting-edge home theater gear. Oftentimes, the more technologically advanced a product is, the more of a pain in the ass it is to configure. This receiver...

"Not reliable. Broke withing 3 months."

I will never purchase Onkyo again and will probably look at the Yamaha as I have heard some good things about them. Also will NEVER purchase anything from Tiger Direct in Dadeland Miami Florida as manager is a big nothing for customer service.

Features especially 2nd zone and ease of switching and HDMI ports.

The fact that it breaks within 3 months and Onkyo expects YOU to pay to have it shipped to their repair facility even with receipt. This thing isn't light and after packing and paying shipping both ways from Miami to NJ it will be almost $100.

"It is much more than a traditional A/V receiver"

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are among the most popular new technologies to make their way into A/V receivers. I own a Sony STRDN1030 Wi-Fi Network A/V Receiver that also has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, but it has an awful menu system and GUI when using the audio...

+ App works well and the receiver responds fairly quickly

- Owners book doesn't show how to operate volume on zone 2

great value, great performance.

Nice Looking design, easy to set up with a 7.2 surround system. Auto speaker calibration was a snap. The "smart" technology is a big plus. This unit was a replacement for an Onkyo TX 611 that was destroyed by a lightning strike. Nice upgrades in...

Very Happy

I am very pleased with this unit. It replaced a 6 year old Sony that was miss-represented. The instructions for this Onyko were clear, the back was clearly labeled, and the remote, even though has hundreds of buttons works very well now I am used to...

Easy to hook up to other gear

I exchanged this receiver.

This actually may be an excellent receiver. I have a few Yamaha receivers and I am very familiar with setting them up. I simply preferred the ease of setting up and using Yamaha equipment. I will admit that this Onkyo receiver is packed with features,...
