Onkyo TX-NR626

AV receivers are supposed to have inputs and outputs for everything, but manufacturers have been surprisingly slow to meet modern needs , especially when it comes to wireless audio streaming.

The Onkyo TX-NR626 is an excellent value, packing both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth at a midrange price. There are six HDMI inputs, plus a dedicated turntable input -- a rarity these days. Onboard streaming-audio support is extensive, including Pandora,...

There's no AirPlay, which competitors offer for less money. The TX-NR626's built-in Audyssey speaker calibration also delivered inconsistent results.

Onkyo's TX-NR626 is a value-packed AV receiver with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and even a turntable input, but it's just short of being our top pick.

Onkyo TX-NR626 AV Receiver Reviewed

The Onkyo TX-NR626 AV receiver fell on Sean Killebrew to review. Killebrew tested out the TX-NR626 and came away from the review with a refreshing sentiment. It works. It just plain works.

It's really refreshing when something just plain works, especially when you're talking about cutting-edge home theater gear. Oftentimes, the more technologically advanced a product is, the more of a pain in the ass it is to configure. This receiver...

Onkyo TX-NR626 review

Onkyo's success in the AVR market stems from its ability to hit the sweet spot between value and performance, and this 7.2-channel model looks to offer more of the same with a load of features and a nice price.

Powerful, well organised sound; extensive features; easy to use; built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi

No AirPlay; hard edge to mids and highs; no Bluetooth button on remote

Onkyo TX-NR626

Good but not great – and that's not quite enough at this hugely competitive price for AV receivers

Smart, solid build ; Thorough spec ; Wi-fi and Bluetooth streaming ; Easy set-up ; Precise and controlled presentation ; Effective surround steering

Hard edge to certain frequencies ; No Apple AirPlay or Made for iPod support ; Lacks a layer of detail

Onkyo's TX-NR626 is a value-packed A/V receiver with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and even a turntable input, but it's just short of being our top pick.

Good value ; Plenty of inputs ; Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

No Airplay ; Inconsistent auto-calibration

"Not reliable. Broke withing 3 months."

I will never purchase Onkyo again and will probably look at the Yamaha as I have heard some good things about them. Also will NEVER purchase anything from Tiger Direct in Dadeland Miami Florida as manager is a big nothing for customer service.

Features especially 2nd zone and ease of switching and HDMI ports.

The fact that it breaks within 3 months and Onkyo expects YOU to pay to have it shipped to their repair facility even with receipt. This thing isn't light and after packing and paying shipping both ways from Miami to NJ it will be almost $100.

"It is much more than a traditional A/V receiver"

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are among the most popular new technologies to make their way into A/V receivers. I own a Sony STRDN1030 Wi-Fi Network A/V Receiver that also has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, but it has an awful menu system and GUI when using the audio...

+ App works well and the receiver responds fairly quickly

- Owners book doesn't show how to operate volume on zone 2

ONKYO TX-NR626 7.2 Channel Receiver

I have ONKYO receivers in the past and this is a pretty good one for the money. The unit may get hot and it will be the end of the sound experience for you! so, I recommend NOT to stuck up the unit; if it is possible use open / grill shelves, or use...

one compact design. It doesn't get hot as I thought so (make sure to have well ventilated shelf, do NOT stack the receiver(s) with other equipment). The set-up was very easy with the basic set-up page instructions. The supplied set-up microphone and...

I am not too much satisfy with the Audyssey speaker calibration, I done my own manual set up later on. The remote control capabilities are great however there is no back-light and it is enough to drop an egg for me
