Pioneer VSXAX2AS-S

If you're looking for a new AV amplifier which excels in video, but will also play iPod and some vinyl, then you've come to the right place.

Excellent feature set includes iPod dock ; Upscaling to 1080p onboard ; Perfectly suited to home cinema use ; Plenty of power in reserve ; Terrific value

iPod implementation could have been better ; Not the best amp for music lovers

The Harman Kardon DVD player is also an upscaling model but the differences between the two were palpable. The Pioneer's superior processing outshone the HK significantly. Though upscaling will never fool you into thinking a VCR source is a Blu-Ray...

Great home theatre sound. Sound retriever makes iPod sound good. Good upscaling capabilities. 1080p pass through for PS3 to X series bravia good but some shuddering on panning scenes. (not sure if this is tv, ps3 with 1.8 update or receiver)

Excellent features and power. The only missing thing is USB port. In this price rage, USB port should be integrated.

Excellent

Having purchased a Pioneer Plasma, I wanted to try to keep all peripherals Pioneer. This was competitvely priced and had all the connectivity I needed and then capacity for more. 3 HDMI inputs was great. More features and settings than its competitors...

Plenty of Oomph and connectivity.

Nothing really

All inputs upscaled to component and HDMI outputs. iPod controller. Inbuilt calibration.

Would have liked more HDMI inputs.
