Choosing the right make and model of A/V receiver was already difficult enough, but this year it's even harder. The number of features that today's A/V receivers bring to the table for the money is off the charts — what you can get for under $1,000 is...

Clean, muscular sound ; Dual HDMI outputs ; Built-in AirPlay ; Wireless Internet adapter included

Unimpressive Internet radio interface ; Remote not backlit ; Buckles under extreme volumes

For Yamaha’s best performance and value under $1,000, these receivers are the way to go.

Hi guys I just bought the Yamaha RX-V773 and I am smitten! Just love the sound in relation to the price. It floats my boat. Never owned a Yamaha before just NAD, Marantz,Onkyo and Sony.

I bought the Rx-v773 by accident, and decided to keep it since it was on my wishlist for another time. Trouble is, I am a complete novice when it comes to audio setup. I know a good sound when I hear one, but lack the technical knowledge to set it up....

Eco mode was turned off. I just pushed this model hard with some really tough material and it did what any other receiver in its class would do: it started clipping and sound got a little compressed. Its not a hit against Yamaha, it's a matter of...

Buckles under extreme volumes – did you have ECO mode on or off during the test?

Great when it worked...

I'm getting in touch with Yamaha since these receivers have a 2 year warranty. We'll see if I get anywhere with them.

Sounds great when paired with my Polk speakers ; Lots of HDMI inputs

I first purchased this unit on 4/20/2013. So I've owned it for just over a year and today it died on me. It completely refuses to power on or do anything except be a giant paper weight ; Very disappointed considering how expensive these receivers are

Totally Satisfied

The sound from this receiver is nothing short of incredible. Even my speakers from the late 1990s sound great, though I'll be shopping for newer speakers shortly. The receiver is very easy to configure, though the options are limited when not using the...

I'd like to see every configurable option available through the phone app. Sometimes I just want to tweak a few settings without having to turn on the television

Overall a nice unit

My unit is situated out of site, so the IR remote can not connect directly. I use a basic IR repeater (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2C516M4574) pluged directly into the back of the Yamaha to control it. The wifi adapter is...

Total control can be done through the iOS App (no idea about Android) - I can turn on internet radio from anywhere - zone2 is hooked up to the whole-house sound system) and I don't have to go hunting for the remote :) ; It plays MP3 from my file server...

It doesn't airplay video, only audio ... (the photos are slightly misleading show an image on the iPad - although I realise that's probably an album cover) ; I can't "fix" the input resolution of the HDMI source ... and it's not playing nice with my...

Better than sliced bread!

I have this plugged in to my wireless router and both my ASUS Transformer and Samsung Galaxy S4 work great as remote controls.

Outstanding price, Great sound, easy setup, more features than you can imagine, integrates with all my other electronics, great Android remote control app works on WiFi so works anywhere in the house. Excellent product all around, Pandora and Internet...

GUI is a little dated, needs a way to define HDMI as the standard input/output for TV instead of AV connections in menu. FM radio tuner is not as quite good as earlier models were. Bookmarks for Internet Radio are impossible to figure out

Consumer review by:

good but not great

sounds is pretty good for price, mp3 interface I don't like because reads meta data but can't sort by file name

probably would get more with h/k brand for the money
