Metronic T2 HD Zapbox receiver review

Footie fans keen to enjoy the imminent World Cup in glorious high-def are snapping up Freeview HD boxes like old ladies at a cake sale. And there's a growing number of basic HD receivers to choose from, offering hi-def pictures without the added...

Slim dimensions, HD and SD picture quality

Looks, sluggish to use, remote, limited onscreen displays, no USB or digital media playback

With lacklustre looks, a lack of juicy features and a clunky operating system, the T2 HD Zapbox is one of the least impressive Freeview HD receivers we've tested so far - but at least its picture quality is up to scratch

Not good - buy a different one

The box I have regularly freezes, and switches itself off randomly. The response is slow on the remote control, and the listings pages are unclear.

Some annoying habits

On the whole I'm pleased with the results I'm getting. I canot comment on the picture directly as I use it to record programmes while at work or late at night and only have a an 8" TV for managing the recordings. As a result the picture quality I...

Great HD Tuner

To "complete the picture" when buying an "HD Ready" digital TV it is common to have to purchase a separate HD Tuner. There are many on the market with built-in recording systems, and they can be pricey, but if you just want access to the...

Report on the Metronic Freeview Box

We have a Sony TV which has a built in Freeview system but is it unable to pick-up BBC 1 and BBC 2 in our area of Spalding, Lincs.

Faulty Product

Product freezes picture and loses sound. When put on standby red light turns to green by the next day and the remote becomes inoperable.I have to turn it off from the mains to re-initialise. I have E-mailed Metronic 2 days ago and still awaiting...
