Thomson DTI 6300-16 - Top Up TV Anytime

TV on demand the Freeview way. Should Sky start to worry?

The box has an impressive 14-day programme guide and you can do all the usual things you can with a Sky+ box: pause, rewind and playback live TV, watch a programme from the beginning while it's still being recorded, and set it to record whole TV series...

Thomson DTI 6300-16 review

A good quality Freeview PVR that will satisfy the needs of most people and offers decent value for money -- the 160GB hard drive will fill up quickly, though

Price ; Picture quality ; Sound quality ; Availability of extra services ; Series link

Styling ; Menus can sometimes be slow

In terms of picture quality and functionality it's hard to beat the Thomson -- the only player that offers more is the similar 160GB Humax PVR-9200. The Humax has the slight edge on ease of use, but the Thomson does manage to turn Top Up TV into a...

Digital Television Recording with Top Up TV Anytime : Top Up TV / Thomson DTI6300-16 DTR

The demise of VHS video tape has left a big hole in convenient TV recording not filled by the promise of DVD.This Thomson box from Top Up TV offers a rich set of features at an unbeatable price.

Hard disk recorders have been around for a little while - most famously pioneered by Tivio and then, in the UK, by the Sky+ box. Great if you're a Sky subscriber. With the advent of FreeView based Digital Television Recorders (DTR) this facility is...

Thomson DTI6300-16

The Thomson DTI6300-16 Freeview PVR is the model currently being used to promote the Top Up TV Anytime service, which is no surprise as the DTI6300-16 is packed with features

Loads of features, Good looking, Time-shifting works well

Unreliable performance, Colours lack quality

The DTI6300-16 has enough features to make it the terrestrial equivalent of a Sky Plus box, but pictures are mediocre

Easy to operate, good system for beginners.

We are very pleased with this overall, the video recorder has taken a back-seat now.

Can adjust timer recordings if a programme over-runs.Can record 2 progammes at once and you can start watching a show from the beginning while it is still recording.

Have had this for 4 months and have had problems with the set freezing on the library and unable to watch or delete shows. The helpline was excellent and soon sorted the problem. We have just had an update from Top Up TV to stop the problems so I will...

Doesn't work properly

Reasonable picture quality

Clunky interface ; Locks up frequently, requiring unplugging to reset - and this doesn't always work ; Fails to record programs ; Rewinding - and attempting to skip adverts - during playback often jumps to beginning of program ; Uses Linux operating...

This machine mosty works, BUT it's also fairly unreliable, as will be noted in other forums. Initially it seems ok, but as time goes on and more programs are recorded, it seems to become less and less reliable. One of the most annoying "features" is...

Thomson TV Recorder

So easy to record ; Massive memory ; Excellent EPG ; Very user friendly

Occasionally "freezes". Analogue picture goes hazy when you have to switch off to restart after freezing ; Quite a few initial faults but all now cured

We are so pleased that we are buying one for christmas for a family member
