Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300i Review

Accurate OCR ; Robust software bundle ; Compact design ; Auto-duplexing ADF

Expensive for what it does ; Small ADF for this segment

For all it does, Fujitsu's ScanSnap S1300i is surprisingly compact, and it packs a useful interface and document-management software. If you can stomach the price, it's ideal for moderate document scanning on the road.

The Fujitsu ScanSnap S1300 offers duplexing and an automatic document feeder in a portable scanner.

Automatic document feeder. Duplex scans. Comes with document management and business card programs.

Relatively slow. No standard driver for working with scan commands in Windows programs.

Delivers crisp, clear images. 10-sheet document feeder keeps pages straighter than other scanners. Easy to clear jams when they do happen. Software supports scanning to PDF, Word documents, and other formats. Reasonably quick at 10 seconds per page

The largest of the scanners we tested. Bloated software suite takes over 1 GB of hard drive space. Requires a series of manual steps to get working with Evernote

A good deal for scanning lots of short documents, but isn't great for long documents

High quality scans, easy to use software

Relatively slow, 10-page document feeder feels limiting

The is a good all-around scanner, but its small 10-page document feeder makes it a poor choice if you scan lots of longer documents.
