Easy install. Good controls. Dust issues. No 48-bit scans.

On the plus side, this scanner installs easily (WindowsMe and WindowsXP) and it has a nice set of front panel controls. Also, its color accuracy is dead-on (this is a big plus). Three negative issues: 1) The scanning beam is exceptionally bright....

Poor Performance with Macs

If you are a Mac owner keep away from this and other HP scanners. Certain performance claims made by HP in pre-sales literature as well as the Users Manual cannot be met, except for Windows. HP admits this, but does not appear to be bothered by these...

I returned mine after spending about 14 hours installing, removing, reinstalling, cleaning the registry, searching HP's web support site, etc. with no success. HP's support has been no help, and my visit to the HP scanner support forum was no help...

All of my scanners have been hp scanjet scanners (3) and they all provide about the same bang for the buck. If you are looking to use the slide and neg. unit that comes with this scanner, "for get about it". A kid with a box of crayons would be money...

A Great Buy as a Scanner for Everyone.

When I was going out to look for an excellent scanner that could do basically almost anything, I decided to find a scanner that could last me at least 4 years down the road, deliver professional results without paying too much and have the capability...

Great value, excellent image reproduction, Expandable, dual interface.

On the expensive side, no toll free support after one year.
