Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021 Review

That old adage about children being seen and not heard should be flipped around for speakers: They should be heard, not seen. In an ideal world, anyway. But until the Invisible Speaker becomes reality, a lot of manufacturers have taken to interesting...

Power to spare, for PC speakers ; Chest-thumping bass, crisp treble ; Sleek, modern design ; Included desktop remote control

Audible hiss even at moderate volume ; Slight lack of presence ; Non-standard speaker cables ; Enormous subwoofer hard to hide ; Awkward desktop controller

Altec Lansing’s brawny Expressionist Ultra MX6021 moves enough air to elicit grins and noise complaints alike, and looks good doing it.

Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021

The monstrous subwoofer for Altec Lansing's Expressionist Ultra MX6021 2.1 PC speaker set looks like it is capable of rattling the pictures off your wallsand your neighbor's. Obviously, power isn't everything when it comes to subwoofers, but this...

Pleasant audio performance at moderate levels. Remote adjusts treble and bass levels. Aux input and headphone jack

Woofers distort at high volumes. Subwoofer is very large, and isn't a good fit for tight spaces. Hard-wired cables. Remote is wired, awkward to operate

Altec Lansing's Expressionist Ultra produces quality audio at moderate levels but suffers from distortion at high volumes.

Altec Lansing MX6021 Expressionist ULTRA 2.1 review

Does this powerful set of speakers represent good value for money?

Heaps of power ; Clear, well-balanced sound

Expensive ; Bass distorts at higher volumes

A capable system, but we think it's over-priced for what you get

Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021 review

The Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021 is a stylish looking set of 2.1 PC speakers that sounds loud with deep bass and very bright highs. Purists may not fall for the subtle mid range but its overall pleasant sound make it a good buy in this...

The Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021 has good sound quality for its asking price. Even though it may not be as good as the older MX5021 and the Creative Gigaworks T3 in terms of resolution and details, the overall sound is quite warm and...

Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021

Dress up your desktop with this unique looking set of Xpressionist speaker from Altec Lansing. They sound as good as they look.

Good design and Unique Look ; Bright Highs ; Deep bass ; Good soundstage ; Nice control pod

Mids could be crispier and richer ; Bass could be more analytical ; No wireless remote

Stylish looking set of 2.1 PC speaker that sounds loud with deep bass and very bright highs. Purist may not fall for the subtle mid range but its overall pleasant sound make it a good buy in this price range.

Altec Lansing Expressionist ULTRA MX6021

Does it have what it takes to replace the MX5021?

Great looks, good clarity, good highs, cool desktop controller with AUX and headphone jack

Large sized sub-woofer, no punch in the bass, no wireless remote, expensive

Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021

The Altec Lansing MX6021 is a good speaker system for your computer, MP3 player, or video game console.

Good sound; Thumping bass; Desktop controller easy to use; Comes with RCA adapter for gaming consoles; Headphone jack

Industrial design may not suit everybody; Are you willing to shell out $400

Excellent Speakers

They literally shake my house

The best thing about these speakers is not how loud they get, regardless of how incredibly loud they are, it is the fact that if you turn the sound up too far and the speakers cant handle it, they will automatically shut off to prevent damage to the...

the cords are kind of short, but thats not a serious issue

Good in my opinion

The box came completely beat up and brightly colored with the contents of the box proudly displayed on all sides for someone to walk by and steal knowing exactly what they were getting. I never schedule deliveries on days that I or someone else will...

The sound is very nice from these speakers. They get very loud and fill my bedroom nicely. All speakers are relatively large. Larger than average

The hissing noise that some people have said is deafening is not nearly as loud for me as they say it is for them, which means they (and potentially you) must consider the possibility that it is something in their set up that is causing the noise....
