Big Disappointment

Well I have to say I was pretty excited about that system after reading a lot of good reviews about it. You would think for €160 you are getting top quality 2.1 system ... And yes you absolutely are, but only up to middle-high level, the louder the worse unfortunately .... Bass gets really distorted on a house party-like levels. I tried everything I could to help it fiddling around with EQ and bass/treble setting on the control yoke, but it didn't help a lot unfortunately ... Also, as someone mentioned here before, wired remote control is very futuristic in terms of design but can be very frustrating for the user as you can't turn the system immediately up or down ... Big disadvantage for people who like to control the level with simple knob or dial. I still think that MX6021 sound really good but only up to middle levels, and that's not what you expect when paying that much for 2.1 system. I couldn't decide whether give it 3 or 4 stars, it's 3.5 from me really.

Easy setup, Attractive design

Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021

That old adage about children being seen and not heard should be flipped around for speakers: They should be heard, not seen. In an ideal world, anyway. But until the Invisible Speaker becomes reality, a lot of manufacturers have taken to interesting...

Power to spare, for PC speakers ; Chest-thumping bass, crisp treble ; Sleek, modern design ; Included desktop remote control

Audible hiss even at moderate volume ; Slight lack of presence ; Non-standard speaker cables ; Enormous subwoofer hard to hide ; Awkward desktop controller

Altec Lansing’s brawny Expressionist Ultra MX6021 moves enough air to elicit grins and noise complaints alike, and looks good doing it.

Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021

Altec Lansing's Expressionist Ultra MX6021 currently sits at the top of the company's line of stylish "expressionist" PC speaker systems, which also includes the Expressionist Classic , Expressionist Bass , and Expressionist Plus . Of the four models,...

Impressive sound for the money; stylish design; very strong bass; good connectivity options; desktop controller for power, volume, bass, and treble.

The speaker cables--which can't be extended because they use proprietary connections--are a little on the short side, so you lose some flexibility on where to place the speakers.

The Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021 PC speaker system is a superior combination of design and performance available at a fairly affordable price.

Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021

The monstrous subwoofer for Altec Lansing's Expressionist Ultra MX6021 2.1 PC speaker set looks like it is capable of rattling the pictures off your wallsand your neighbor's. Obviously, power isn't everything when it comes to subwoofers, but this...

Pleasant audio performance at moderate levels. Remote adjusts treble and bass levels. Aux input and headphone jack

Woofers distort at high volumes. Subwoofer is very large, and isn't a good fit for tight spaces. Hard-wired cables. Remote is wired, awkward to operate

Altec Lansing's Expressionist Ultra produces quality audio at moderate levels but suffers from distortion at high volumes.

"Below average 2.1 speakers, at such elevated price."

Disappointing low frequency <20Hz response and no punch in bass.

Great looking speakers and adds beauty to desktop station.

1. No punch in the bass, don't know where 200W goes.

"Superb quality, you miss nothing."

Elegant design,

The sub woofer is not large....... It's very large.

"NO HISSING SOUND IS THERE AT ALL"

I am using this since last 2 weeks and all I can say is WOW..... Its a damn good speaker set in its class.

(1) Large sub woofer, punchy bass which doesn't distort.

Nothing found so far. Few are saying about the little short size speaker cables. But with 2.1 speaker set you are not going to reproduce any surround sound and thus there is least chance to place those 2 speakers at very far. Its well enough to place them

(1) Large sub woofer, punchy bass which doesn't distort ; (2) Superb High Mid and Low. Crispy crystal clear sound ; (3) Wired Volume+Bass+Treble controller having auxiliary input. It looks too sexy :) ; (4) Modern look

"Perfect All-In-One Sound!"

I've owned this product for 5 months. It's main competitor for me was the Logitech Z623, but non of the speakers in Logitech's line contain tweeters (probably). Their speakers are always missing a little brightness to me so I went with the...

1. Awesome modern design.

1. Continuous hissing no matter at what volume and operational status.
