Altec Lansing Expressionist Bass FX3022

Altec Lansing's latest audio product line has a definite industrial vibe, the best example of which is the Expressionist Bass FX3022 ($129.95 direct), which look more like a set of futuristic kitchen appliances than PC speakers. While the FX3022 might...

Cool industrial design. Crisp audio performance. Built-in subwoofers save space

Distorts at high volumes. Lacks bass-level control. No remote control

Altec Lansing's striking, space-saving FX3022 PC speakers deliver an excellent listening experience with rich low-endprovided you don't pump up the volume up too high.

Altec Lansing Expressionist Bass FX3022

Altec Lansing's motto for its Expressionist Bass FX3022 PC multimedia speakers is, "All the bass in half the space." The concept is a good one. You take the subwoofer that normally sits on the floor, shrink it down, and integrate one into the bottom of...

Impressive, striking design; subwoofers are built into the base of each speaker, which provides ample amount of bass; more suited to gaming and movie watching than music listening.

Treble is aggressive and brash; no remote.

While the great-looking Altec Lansing Expressionist Bass FX3022 multimedia speakers fall a little short for music listening, their potent bass makes them a better choice for gaming and movie watching.

Review: Altec Lansing Expressionist Bass (FX3022)

Like its smaller sibling, Altec Lansing's Expressionist Bass speaker system offers a unique design; but it also gives you noticeably better sound quality and much more bass output -- at times too much.

Like the FX2020, the FX3022 is a 2.0 speaker system, meaning it uses only left and right speakers—no subwoofer. Compared to 2.1 systems—which include left and right satellites for higher frequencies along with a larger speaker/amplifier component that...

A Review of Altec Lansing FX3022: Two Beauties on Your Desktop

The new FX3022 from Altec Lansing has an exquisite design to give your desktop a stunning look and a good sound quality to go with it. Let us have a brief look at this speaker system.

High quality sound, great balance

I first bought an altec lansing speaker set in late 90s and they were ace and travelled with me across continents. They eventually broke though and I replaced them with a logitech 5.1 system which was partly for gaming but sounded crap. This new system...

Look like Darleks ; Clear, crisp sound ; Plenty loud enough

As the bass is 1 inch above the desk and, it can make the desk vibrate at certain bass levels

Powerful computer speakers, easy volume and power acces

Definitely great buy, found mine at Compusa for $50. For the price these are; in my opinion, best bang for the buck. The sound quality is 9/10, bass is 10/10, treble is 8/10, innovation is 9/10, easy to use 10/10.

Powerful Sound ; Great bass ; Easy Access

No remote ; Minimum volume set too high, goes from mute to somewhat medium sound ; Little big for small desk

These sound good, but not good as a real, manly stereo

There are physical limitations when a 1.5" driver is supposed to carry the mid-range frequencies, and a 4" woofer is supposed to provide the bass. Speakers have to move air, and undersized speakers will never sound as good as full-sized speakers. That...

Better than the $25 speakers I had been using. High frequencies are crisp. Maybe these look cool??? I don't know

Low-Mid frequency response is weak. Super-low frequencies are also weak
