Beats Pill XL ( titanium)

First, an apology. We're a little tardy in reviewing the Beats Pill XL, the bigger brother to the standard Beats Pill Bluetooth speaker. Part of the reason for that may have been that I was underwhelmed by the original Pill , which was decent enough...

The Beats Pill XL is well-designed with an integrated carrying handle, a robust feature set, including speakerphone capabilities and a USB-out charging port, and strong sound for a portable Bluetooth speaker. Also, battery life is decent at 15 hours.

Speaker requires its own AC adapter (not Micro-USB) for charging; no carrying case included.

The combination of the Pill XL's strong sound, excellent design and feature set make it a reasonable value despite its elevated price tag.

Beats Pill XL

Dr. Dre's Beats Pill XL delivers thumping, powerful Bluetooth audio in a portable design intended for bass lovers on-the-go.

Intense bass response. Powerful audio performance. Portable. Aux inputs and outputs for versatile playback options. Built-in speakerphone. Can charge external devices

Minor distortion on seriously deep bass at top volumes. A bit overpriced

Like all things Beats, the Pill XL is a bass-heavy affair (so purists can stop reading now). Also like most products in Dr. Dre's audio gear lineup, it's well-designed. At $299.95, the Pill XL isn't an inexpensive portable Bluetooth speaker, and is...

Beats Pill XL review: Dr. Dre's newest speaker is supersized and super loud

Back in 2012, Beats unveiled its diminutive Pill wireless speaker in a bid to steal the Jambox's thunder. Since then, its main rival hasn't exactly been

Stellar sound quality ; Great battery life ; Quick and easy setup ; Simple controls

Relatively uninspired design ; Difficult multi-unit pairing ; Heavy

Beats Pill XL bests Jawbone's Big Jambox thanks to its clear, well-rounded sound quality.

Beats Pill XL Review: The Doctor Delivers a Bigger Dosage of Sound

If you thought the Beats Pill was good, but perhaps not big enough on sound, here comes the Beats Pill XL. The Beats Pill XL delivers an extra dosage of power in a significantly larger body, but still maintains its original pill inspired shape, while...

Once again – the pill capsule design is back and looks even better larger. NFC support. 15 hour battery life. Convenient carrying handle. You can charge your devices from the Beats Pill XL. Sound fills a room well. Great sonics with strong mids and...

Takes several hours to warm up the speaker drivers. Only one color available so far

I wasn’t sure what to expect with the Beats Pill XL, as much as I thought the Beats Pill was adorable, how was the Beats Pill XL going to wedge its way in between the smaller Pill and the Beatbox Portable? Well the Beats Pill XL has managed to wrestle...

Beats Pill XL (review): Bigger Bluetooth speaker justifies its premium price with strong design and sound

Review: Beats Pill XL

With a stylish design, comfortable handle, fantastic batter life and punchy, high-quality sound, the Pill XL is a fantastic product that could easily justify its admittedly high cost over a few summers of barbecues, trips to the beach and lazy days in...

Good sound, battery did not charge

Battery was bad straight out of box. This happens so no big deal returning it and getting a new one. Made me weary of the brand but decided to give it a shot. Just got the service plan. Sounds great for size. Using it my car, my deck cannot be removed...
