Speakers: Main Speakers: Epos ELS3

The Epos ELS3s offer value with a capital ''V,'' and I heartily recommend them for enthusiasts with space and/or budget constraints. On a surprisingly broad range of musical material, the ELS3s produce a big sound that has real refinement and finesse,...

Epos ELS3 5.1

Still a polished-sounding, detailed package, but there are now better performers for the money

Detailed, integrated and invigorating sound; good dynamics; open, clear and cohesive

Safe styling; subwoofer struggles under duress; new kids on the block outgun it

Enjoyable enough to listen to, but their size means the ELS3s are restricted at the lower end of the scale

Compact size might suit your room; fine timing; pleasing and natural midrange

Too small for large rooms; dynamics limited

Epos ELS3 standmount/bookshelf speakers reviewed

Epos made its name with a standmount loudspeaker with impressive timing skills called the ES14 back in the eighties, then as now the brand?s approach was minimalist; don?t use crossover components unless you have to...

Epos Acoustics ELS 3 Bookshelf Speakers

Traded a pair of Magies for these and it was a mistake. Of all the many small speakers, this Chinese abortion is the worst. Yes, I have had most all of them and this one is at the bottom. I'm using Radio shack Lineaums from goodwill for my back...

Epos Acoustics ELS 3 Bookshelf Speakers

I purchased these used off CL for a good price. After reading all the positive reviews, especially by Stereophile Magazine I wanted to try a pair. I had been using some decent (I thought) vintage speakers. Infinity Kappa's, Altec Valencia, Ohm C2, Jamo...

Epos Acoustics ELS 3 Bookshelf Speakers

I wanted some bookshelf speakers for a small bedroom system and had a credit with Music Direct. Since I wasn't interested in anything else at the time I bought these. I have owned the Epos Els 3's for about a year and they do many things very well....

Epos Acoustics ELS 3 Bookshelf Speakers

Excellent value. Neutral, smooth, detailed sound. Not at all bright or harsh sounding unless you really crank the volume to their limits. These speakers LOVE acoustic recordings, but they sound great with all types of music. They project a wide and...

Incredible value - great imaging and very dynamic sound for such small and inexpensive speakers. No very low bass but you hardly miss it, so good is the mid-range and the overall musicality. Can use with much more expensive gear without ending up with...

No very low bass (but what were you expecting?)

Product Specifications

Designed not only for high performance two channel operation, these new competitively priced Epos speakers will further satisfy a requirement in the 5.1 home cinema market, ensuring there is no need to compromise the audio quality in the name of home entertainment. Utilizing a two-way bass reflex design, the ELS3 incorporates a 130mm woofer with injection moulded polypropylene cone with dust cap and rubber rolled surround on a heavy die-cast aluminium chassis. It has a dual magnet and shielding can, further enhancing its use in a home theatre application. The 25mm aluminium dome neodymium tweeter is an entirely new Epos design and features the Epos logo directly moulded onto the faceplate. In true Epos style, the ELS3 has a minimalistic crossover. In a deviation from the Epos real wood veneer cabinet, this new ELS3 cabinet features a vinyl wrap finish allowing the cost to be highly competitive. The choice of three colours remains, enabling the addition of these speakers to complement earlier models, should they be desired for use in a rear channel application. As you would expect from the manufacturer of such a well-respected brand, this new and exciting Epos ELS3 has a performance level that has to be heard to be believed. Epos speakers are available in the following three finishes. Black Light or Cherry
