Jawbone Big Jambox review

If you've been eyeing the Jambox but crave richer audio, we'd recommend its big brother without much hesitation

Big sound in a small packageStylish and portableExcellent looksExceptional battery life

May distort at louder volumesLive Audio can be hit-or-miss

So, is the Big Jambox worth $300 of your hard-earned cash? Furthermore, is that 100-dollar premium over the OG Jambox worth its weight? Aside from our concerns about the finer points of its audio fidelity, there's no mistaking how versatile this system...

Jawbone Jambox review

You may have already gathered that we're fans of the Jawbone Jambox -- seeing as how it appears in our Holiday Gift Guide -- but does a miniature portable

Powerful sound belies tiny size ; Good battery life ; Stylish, durable design

Mild distortion ; Iffy as speakerphone ; Pricey

Jawbone Big Jambox

The Jawbone Big Jambox doesn't offer the best audio quality among portable Bluetooth speakers, but its long battery life, speakerphone features, and generally solid sound make it worth a listen.

Doubles as a speakerphone. Good sound quality with powerful low end for its size. Clear voice quality. Long battery life.

Bass distorts slightly at high volumes.

Review: Jawbone Big Jambox

The Big Jambox from Jawbone builds upon the success of the company's original portable speaker, keeping the attractive no-frills design, but wrapping it around a...

Big, clear sound. Tight package. Controls for skipping tracks, changing the volume and answering calls are right on top. Over 12 hours of play time on a rechargeable battery. Solid Bluetooth performance. Under three pounds. Eight rubber feet keep it...

Price makes you think too hard. Size matters: requires an external method of conveyance, and it won’t squeeze into your travel carry-on. Bass is clear and not flabby, but it could pack more punch. Needs the wall wart to charge quickly. Spatial...

Big Jambox review

The most appealing aspect of the original Jawbone Jambox is its surprising ability to push big sound relative to its diminutive size. Other battery-powered wireless speakers might be louder or less...

Much fuller sound than the original Jambox ; Accepts Bluetooth or 3.5mm input ; Long battery life ; LiveAudio 3D sound has to be experienced to be believed ; A good compromise of portability and sound quality ; Stunning industrial design

LiveAudio softens volume and dynamic range on some tracks ; Better, less-portable speakers can be had for the same price ; Not as portable as the original Jambox

Big Jambox offers the best balance of design, sound, and portability

Jawbone Big Jambox white wave

It goes bigger and more expensive.

For a compact portable Bluetooth speaker, the Jawbone Big Jambox delivers impressive sound, has good battery life, and plays loudly without distortion. It also has a built-in rechargeable battery, an auxiliary input, a rugged design, and business-grade...

The Big Jambox is pricey and isn't as portable as its little brother, the original Jambox.

The Jawbone Big Jambox doesn't quite measure up to the Bose SoundLink Wireless Mobile and it carries a premium price tag, but it's an impressively designed product that offers strong performance and speakerphone capabilities.

Jawbone Big Jambox review

Some products end up becoming so-called poster children for their category, and there's no doubt that Jawbone's Jambox is a premier portable Bluetooth speaker that's been one of the major driving forces behind popularizing the tiny wireless speaker...

Review: Jawbone Jambox

Don't let the size fool you -- the Jambox from Jawbone (yes the headset maker) churns out some serious tunes. And it's wireless too!

Literally small enough to fit in jacket pocket. Front/rear speaker projects 360-degrees. Metal casing feels substantial, but not too weighty. Rubber trim and bottom are excellent for gripping and setting on slippery surfaces. Press the Call button on...

0 feels like too much. Power/pairing light doesn’t always stop flashing (spoils the calm serenity of a pitch-black room). Device beeps every single time you raise or lower the volume with the topside controls. Travel case doesn’t have room for the...

BIG JAMBOX Review

Jawbone's JAMBOX personal speaker put music and hands-free calls in your backpack, messenger bag, your briefcase and on your nightstand. Now, with the BIG JAMBOX by Jawbone, it's time to take your music out into the backyard, poolside or park and do...

At $299, the BIG JAMBOX isn’t cheap, but nor is it as expensive as some of the style-focused AirPlay speakers we’ve seen for Apple devices. It doesn’t compromise on sound, either, either in terms of volume or audio quality; Jawbone positions it as a...
