Jawbone Big Jambox

This Bluetooth speaker favors volume over richness, but its speakerphone capabilities, battery life and apps make it a very good choice.

Good battery life; Easy setup; Loud for its size; Customizable apps

Weak bass; No included case or cover

Click to EnlargeLike its smaller brother, the $299 Jawbone Big Jambox has a stylish design and clever features, such as LiveAudio and speakerphone capability. Those who are solely interested in audio quality will prefer the Bose SoundLink, though that...

Jawbone Big Jambox review

It was back in February when we first caught wind a beefier version of Jawbone's Jambox, thanks to some less-than-stealthy ninjas at the FCC. Today it's

Big sound in a small package ; Stylish and portable ; Excellent looks ; Exceptional battery life

May distort at louder volumes ; Live Audio can be hit-or-miss

If you've been eyeing the Jambox but crave richer audio, we'd recommend its big brother without much hesitation

Bigger Jambox Makes a Bigger Boom

The Big Jambox from Jawbone builds upon the success of the company's original portable speaker, keeping the attractive no-frills design, but wrapping it around a larger box that's louder and has more battery life.

Big Jambox review

The most appealing aspect of the original Jawbone Jambox is its surprising ability to push big sound relative to its diminutive size. Other battery-powered wireless speakers might be louder or less expensive, but only Jawbone manages to foster a...

Much fuller sound than the original Jambox ; Accepts Bluetooth or 3.5mm input ; Long battery life ; LiveAudio 3D sound has to be experienced to be believed ; A good compromise of portability and sound quality ; Stunning industrial design

LiveAudio softens volume and dynamic range on some tracks ; Better, less-portable speakers can be had for the same price ; Not as portable as the original Jambox

Pricing a Bluetooth speaker at $299 is risky business, even for Jawbone. Is bigger, better enough to justify it?

Jawbone Jambox review

You may have already gathered that we're fans of the Jawbone Jambox -- seeing as how it appears in our Holiday Gift Guide -- but does a miniature portable

Powerful sound belies tiny size ; Good battery life ; Stylish, durable design

Mild distortion ; Iffy as speakerphone ; Pricey

A Tiny Wireless Speaker With Serious Boom

Don't let the size fool you -- the Jambox from Jawbone (yes the headset maker) churns out some serious tunes. And it's wireless too!

Jawbone Big Jambox review

The original Jambox was one of those devices that just surprised everyone. A tiny box that produced enough sound to fill a modestly-sized room. It wasn't cheap, of course, but it was sturdy and had a decent battery.

Brilliant sound, lots of functionality, looks amazing, portable

Expensive, doesn't come with carry case

A fabulous speaker that has more than enough features to make it a replacement for your home hi-fi. It's powerful enough to fill a good-sized room, and looks utterly brilliant too and although it's expensive, we think it earns its keep

Jawbone Big Jambox review

The Jawbone Big Jambox certainly isn't the cheapest Bluetooth speaker on the market, but its loud and clear sound, portable size and good battery life make it a great choice for garden party enthusiasts.

Very loud ; Clear audio ; Portable size ; Handy speakerphone function

Pricey ; Metal grille could be easily dented

The Jawbone Big Jambox might be pretty pricey, but it packs a clear, full and extremely big sound from a deceptively small body. If you're on the lookout for a rechargeable speaker to power your barbecue garden parties, this might just do the trick.
