M-Audio BX5 D2

The M-Audio BX5 D2 active studio monitors sound better than they should given the relatively low price of entry.

Transparent sound and imaging. Plenty of clean level available. Durable enclosures look good. Useful LED brightens when you've positioned the speakers properly

No dB adjustments on back panel

There's precious little to fault with the BX5 D2. They hold up well against the veterans in the category, from Alesis, Mackie (with their lower cost MR5 line), KRK, Fostex, and Event (which has since retreated back upmarket, and no longer sells a...

M-Audio’s New Studio Monitors Are Built for the Big Leagues

These bi-amped beauties are, hands down, some of the most accurate (uncolored) speakers we've listened to in a long time.

M-Audio BX5 D2 Next-Generation 70-Watt Bi-Amplified Studio Monitors Review

M-Audio is a renowned and premier player in the digital audio segment catering to musicians and audio professionals through such items, but not limited to, MIDI solutions, recording equipment and professional audio software such as ProTools. I've been...

Yes there are small gripes that I have with the M-Audio BX5 D2's such as the lack of a center detent on the volume knob dial (CX5 have this; makes volume matching between monitors simple), there's also the question of more low-end bass, the exclusion...

M-Audio Studiophile BX5A Deluxe Active Studio Monitor Speakers (Pair)

The M-Audio STUDIOPHILE BX5A DELUXE Active studio monitor speakers. Incredible sounding yet affordable, two-way magnetically shielded studio reference monitors.

Incredible sounding yet affordable, two-way magnetically shielded studio reference monitors 70 watts of distributed power (30w HF amp, 40w LF amp) 5 inch low-frequency drivers with curved Kevlar cones, high-temperature voice coils and damped rubber...

Great quality from such a small set of monitors

Be sure to set them, as the manual suggests, at ear height. If they're too high you'll only hear bass and mids, if they'll too low you'll miss a lot of the bass. A few 6 feet from them also helps.

Small size ; Good bass production for size of woofer (5") ; Sturdy construction and visual appeal ; Friggin loud

No filter/crossover adjustment ; XLR and mono 1/4" plug only. RCA would have been easier ; No grills (all speakers should have protection)

Research and decision so paid off! Love 'em!!!

I'm just an average guy who sold his 5.1 Logitech Z-5300e and wanted something really accurate for music and movies. My space is too small to incorporate a 5.1 system, and used my rear speakers of the Logitech setup in the living room. These logitech's...

I feel like I have just gained a new dimension or sense. New found appreciation for music. I have to re-listen to all of my music. I love music, but I have never thought that I was missing out so much. When talking to the local Audio Pro shop and...

Cost would be about the only con, but you have to pay for quality and with these monitors you get your bang for the buck

BX5a - really nice set of monitors!

I bought them at a local Pro Audio shop for much less than here on Newegg... I also bought the Auralex MOPAD Monitor Isolation Pads, which really do make a difference, I even compared them with them and without, they clean out the bass quite a bit!

Precise sound reproduction, pumps pretty good bass out of a 5" woofer, highs, mids and lows all sound AMAZING! I previously bought the M-Audio AV40s but due to many bad reviews and the amp getting super hot, I returned it and bought these bad boys. I...

None really but they do get kinda warm in the amp section, the power is on the rear as well, and there are 2 off switches, one per monitor

M-AUDIO BX5a 2.0 Monitor Speaker

if you look at the specs on the m-audio website, you don't need me to tell you these are good.

Excellent sound clarity, response well above hearing threshold, no distortion, magnetically shielded, and these monitors don't suffer the pops and clicks from a cell signal

Although the lows sound excellent they lack the clear punch that a sub would give

Product Specifications

The BX5a refines M-Audio's highly acclaimed BX5 near-field reference monitors, renowned for packing a lot of punch for their size. M-Audio's new 5" low-frequency driver cones are crafted from Kevlar, an extremely resilient material typically found in much more expensive monitors. Curved cone design coupled with high-temperature voice coils and damped rubber surrounds deliver incredible fidelity and durability. The 1" high-frequency drivers' magnetically shielded natural silk domes produce crisp top end while still being gentle on the ears. Integral cabinet and electronic engineering work together to deliver improved bass response. 70-watt bi-amped power and expertly tuned crossovers round out an incredible sounding pair of reference monitors with a footprint small enough to fit just about anywhere.
