Acer Iconia A1-830 review

The Acer Iconia A1-830 tablet is the designer handbag knock-off of tablets. It looks like a high-end purchase, but it simply -- and fashionably -- fulfills basic needs at a reasonable price. The 7.9-inch slate resembles an Apple iPad Mini at first...

The $179 Acer Iconia A1-830 is stylishly thin and performs consistently smoothly during casual use. With a smooth aluminum back, it feels solid yet comfortable to hold, and it has a microSD card expansion slot.

It runs an older version of Android; performance lags if multiple apps are open or if multitasking; the screen resolution is low for today's standards; it no longer offers a micro-HDMI port.

The Acer Iconia A1-830 is a sleek and simple tablet for basic use, but you need only spend $50 more to upgrade to a slate with faster performance and better features.

Acer Iconia A1-830

The Acer Iconia A1-830 is notable for how closely it hews to the iPad mini's design, but it's also a serviceable budget-friendly Android tablet in its own right.

Solid aluminum build. Affordable. iPad-like 4:3 screen ratio.

Low-resolution display. Mediocre performance. Weak battery life.

Camera and Conclusions The 5-megapixel rear-facing camera is, like most aspects of the A1, on the low end in terms of performance. Good lighting generally yields usable photos for uploading online, but even slightly challenging lighting scenarios can...

Review Acer Iconia A1-830 Tablet

8-inches of metal. You're looking for an affordable tablet that is compact and stylish? Then you should look at Acer's Iconia A1-830 that wants to convince with a metal back and Intel Atom processor for a price of 170 Euros (~$233).

Stylish design, Light and slim, Metal back, Micro-SD slot, Decent cameras, Bright screen, Relatively high application performance, Good battery runtimes, That Acer consistently works on its tablet and has improved it considerably

No unique design, Touchscreen could be sleeker, Older Android version, Imperfect viewing angles, Screen's low resolution, Short warranty period, The screen could have a higher resolution by now

Acer Iconia A1-830 tablet Review

Today we're having a look at a tablet that's very familiar, yet a whole new concept in Acer's brand of tablet releases. Here with the Acer Iconia A-830-1633 , you're getting an Android tablet that's working with a 7.9-inch display with a moderate...

Acer has really come out swinging with this device. Not unlike what Motorola did with the Moto G, here Acer creates a tablet that looks great and works great at its price point. At $180 USD, this device is ready to take on the rest of the market at...

Acer Iconia A1: Small Android tablet for tight budgets [Review]

Acer is probably not the first company you will think of when you start pondering tablets -- but in fact it has quite a pedigree. It has forayed into Windows-based tablets, with recent examples being the Iconia W4 and the Iconia W700 -- an attempt at...

You might not immediately think of Acer when looking at tablet options, but if you are on a really tight budget and want to give a 7.9-inch Android tablet a go, it would be worth glancing in the direction of the Acer Iconia A1-830. Its biggest problems...

Acer Iconia A1-830 -- a budget Android tablet powered by Intel [Review]

Android tablets are often hit or miss. There are typically two types -- good quality and poor quality, with very few in between. Android purists will tell you to stick with the Nexus line, but restricting the pool of available tablets defeats the...

The Nexus 7 is getting a bit long in the tooth and the 7 inch screen is just too small for many. The Acer A1-830 ups the ante with a larger screen, expandable memory, Intel processor and a $179.99 price. The tablet is not perfect; the speakers are...

Acer Iconia A1-830 review

Acer's Intel-powered A1-830 is well-built, but not without some cut corners Remember Acer? The company that, upon Android's introduction, stepped out of its Windows-powered comfort zone and introduced the Iconia A500, a clunky but noble first stab at...

Premium, high quality design ; Easy-to-hold 4:3 ratio ; Nearly stock version of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean ; Affordable $180 price tag ;

Disappointing display ; Abysmal camera, both in terms of interface and results

Acer did a fine job following up its A1-810 tablet, even if it didn’t give it much of a spec boost. With an exponentially nicer build quality, a unique 4:3 screen ratio and a nearly-untouched Jelly Bean experience, the 830 is a fine device. At just...

Acer Iconia A1-830 Android tablet review

Acer has made a great 7.9in tablet, but it lingers behind its established rivals.

Sub-$250 price ; Aluminum rear casing ; 2MP front cam with face detection

Low resolution screen

Acer has made a decent tablet with the A1-830. It looks like an Apple iPad Mini — which is a good looking tablet — and it will easily perform most tasks without any trouble. Furthermore, the $249 price is attractive.

Hands-on at CES 2014: A budget Android tablet with the same screen size as an iPad mini

People expecting the Acer Iconia A1-830 to be a cheap iPad mini will likely be disappointed. It looks like an iPad mini, but the Android OS means it's nothing like an Apple tablet. It's also not particularly remarkable in terms of the specs it offers,...
