Archos 7 Home Tablet review

Upon first look is there anything not to love about the Archos 7 Home Tablet? It's .5-inches thick, has a seven-inch touchscreen, runs Android, and wait

Thin and light design ; Built-in kickstand ; Nice video playback

Runs outdated version of Android ; No accelerometer ; Resistive touchscreen

Archos 7 8GB Home Tablet Black Tablet Review - PCWorld

Apple looks set to shake up casual computing with a tablet that offers clever design and ease of use. But that streamlined approach may also be the iPad's weakness.

Review: Archos 7 Home Tablet

Anyone at Archos who thought the 7 would give the iPad a run for its money needs a reality check.

Extremely affordable. Sharp and bright screen. Wi-Fi equipped. Keeps kids quiet better than a ball gag and a roll of duct tape. (Kidding!)

No hardware features (like an accelerometer) to speak of. Wretched typing experience on old-school resistive touchscreen. Old Android version installed (1.5 not kidding!)

Archos 7 Home Tablet

A finicky touch screen and unpolished UI prevent the nicely priced Archos 7 from being a cure-all tablet.

Affordable. Sleek, compact design. Android-based OS provides means scores of free apps. Built-in kickstand. User-adjustable EQ.

Poor screen sensitivity. On-screen typing is difficult. Music and video players could be improved.

Archos 7 Home Tablet Review

We have to give Archos credit for being the first to market with a 100 percent Android tablet and at a price ($199) that's within reach for most people. If ...

Archos 7 160GB MP3 Player Review - Intro

The Archos 7 is currently the largest offering from Archos, with a screen that's nearly 7-inches wide (it's slightly smaller than a full 7). While this makes the Archos 7 a great device for watching videos, it makes it the least-portable media players...

Seems sturdy, nice aesthetic with impressive-looking screen.; A great screen and capacity, touch screen offers some tactile feedback ; Great media player software ; Maintains your folder structure, good equalizer ; Great photo viewing software ; Great...

Picks up smudges and scratches easily, big ; The battery life could've been better, but overall there's no real complaints ; Looks a bit plain ; Playlist creation was a bit awkward ; No podcast support ; Weak output power, bad packaged-in headphones ;...

The Archos 7 is a gigantic piece of technology. The screen is just about the best one out there for (somewhat) portable video. Sure it's not as portable as the iPod Shuffle, but the ability to view decent-sized videos is great. The Archos 7 is also...

Archos 7 Home Tablet

Very good video playback performance

Bulky, missing Google Maps and Google YouTube player

The consumer electronics market is brutal and the trend is toward apps and ease of use. The Archos 5 Internet Tablet has the apps part down, but ease of use isn't quite there compared to the brain dead easy iPod Touch and iPhone. It's not that Android...

Archos 7 Home Tablet

Archos 7 Home Tablet is a 7-inch, Wi-Fi-only Android 2.1 running tablet. It comes with a 600MHz processor, stereo speakers, Bluetooth and 8GB of internal memory, which is further expandable with microSD cards.

Verizon 4G LTE network is incredibly fast, 32GB microSD card included, Integrated kickstand works in portrait and landscape

Battery life is among the worst weve ever seen, No 4G LTE power toggle option, Kickstand in landscape orientation blocks microUSB port

Review: Archos 7 Home Tablet

The Archos 7 Home Tablet is an inexpensive Android tablet meant for people who want to access (not create) media like video, audio, images, e-mail, and Web.

Archos says the device will play video continuously for 7 hours before the battery runs out. I became very skeptical of Archos's claim after I noted that a fully-charged battery became 30 percent depleted after watching video for about an hour. I'm...

Archos 7

Some gadgets inspire keen lust at first sight. The Archos 7 is one of those. Even if you don't need or want a portable media player it looks fantastically futuristic (think of Star Trek's cool all-purpose handheld digital tablets) and shiny in the...

Handles a variety of video formats well, handles high quality VGA video at high bitrates well, lots of storage, fantastic 7" display, excellent battery life, slim, solid, really good looking (until the fingerprints set in), excellent DVR features with...

Some of the most desirable codecs cost extra, shows fingerprints like mad, heavy. Add about $140 for the DVR Station and those codecs. The new Archos 5 and 7 connectors aren't compatible with older Snap ons like the old DVR Station.

At $450 to $550 list, this isn't a cheap device. But it's unique thanks to the 7" display, excellent video format support and powerful CPU. Throw in the DVR station and you're spending $100 more, but it adds valuable functionality in the guise of high...
