Pandigital SuperNova review: Pandigital SuperNova

With the Kindle Fire's $200 debut upon us, it's a good time to take stock of the tablet market and ask some questions. Is $200 a low-enough price to turn what might be an unappealing tablet into a product that would sell enough to turn a profit?

The Pandigital SuperNova tablet is light, smooth, and comfortable to hold. It includes a Micro-HDMI slot and two cameras.

The tablet's screen is dim and low-resolution with narrow viewing angles. There's no native access to the Android Market and the build quality feels plasticky and toylike.

Though priced to compete, the Pandigital SuperNova lacks the performance and features to seal the deal.

Pandigital SuperNova

The Pandigital SuperNova will be a fine tablet for Android geeks to hack, but average buyers should look for a tablet with a better screen.

Hacker-friendly. Outputs well to TVs. Lots of features for the price.

Cheap build. Abysmal screen. No Google services.

Multimedia and Conclusions One of Pandigital's pitches for the SuperNova is that it "Internet-enables any TV" through its HDMI port and support for wireless keyboards. I tried it, and it lives up to the promise. The HDMI tether means you can't get too...

Pandigital SuperNova Review

At $229, the Pandigital SuperNova improves on some of the problem points of the Nova. However, the addition of a capacitive screen, improved battery life, and cameras with more megapixels isn't enough to make the SuperNova a viable competitor to the...

Affordable, Responsive capacitive touchscreen, Decent performance

Limited app selection, Unattractive design, Cheap build quality

Pandigital SuperNova Review and Ratings

This low-cost tablet performs well, but it runs an outdated version of Android and doesn't support the Android Market. Considering where features and pricing are going with competing tablets, this one may have a limited shelf life.

Entry-level price ; Strong performance

No support for Android Market ; Only 4GB RAM ; Cheap-feeling plastic construction

The SuperNova is a huge improvement over Pandigital's first incursions into the tablet market. Long gone are the performance issues and behavioral hiccups we encountered with the Nova. Its $229 price puts it on the low end of the price range—but not by...

"This product has no service. No longer manufactured."

Avoid products from new owner of the Brand Sunglow North America, current onwer of the brand Pandigital

If your unit does not need service, buy a lottery ticket.

Non existent after sale service. Lots of quality and warranty complains. See page customerservicenumbers.com/co-pandigital

"Its very well worth every penny spent"

I would say a definite IPad killer. I would never spend 500 for a tablet. I bought this for more than half its price. Which does EXACTLY the same thing as an Ipad can do. Hello! Wifi settings awesome as it keeps previous setting memorized for easier...

I love all the available apps. I have installed Words with friends, Scanner radio, and much more. Great for Skype or Tango apps.

camera quality is fair, I personally would of enjoyed something better. and maybe the audio can be improved, but it does the job.

"Pass on this one...."

Pass on this one guys if you're waiting on the ICS update. Here's what I got back after emailing their customer service. This device will not be getting the 4.0 update. This tablet sucks to be honest. Save up and get something else. Pandigital Case#...

It's a tablet.

Terrible screen. Viewing angle is horrible.
