Panasonic TX-L42ET50

A good effort with great images, but direct rivals do perform better

Blu-ray images are clean and detailed; plenty of smart features; good connectivity

3D glasses extra; not as exciting as rivals; not perfect with motion; no Freesat

Inevitable comparison against its class-leading plasma counterpart shows up the Panasonic TX-L42ET50’s limitations. And Sony's KDL-40HX853 LCD is a much better performer, at only £100 more. All in all, a good if fairly unexciting set.

hd pictures are very good

sd pictures show slight artifacts and have seen better, but the hd/3d pics make up for it.
