Samsung PND8000 review

For the last couple of years it has seemed that our job as TV reviewers comes down to determining which TV is better: the best Panasonic plasma or the best Samsung plasma. In 2011 the vessel bearing the Samsung flag is the PND8000, and while...

The Samsung PND8000 series has outstanding overall picture quality, with excellent black-level performance, and the most accurate color of any TV we've ever reviewed. It can handle bright rooms well and exhibits the nearly perfect screen uniformity of...

The relatively expensive PND8000 cannot produce full shadow detail or proper 1080p/24 cadence without sacrificing some black-level performance. Smart Hub lacks Amazon Instant, its search is next to useless, and its interface can be cluttered and...

With picture quality that's nearly the equal of the tough competition, as well as best-in-class design and features, the Samsung PND8000 makes a strong case for being the best overall plasma TV of 2011.

"Pretty good TV overall; WORST Customer Service!"

I've been a long-time fan of Samsung products. I've owned LCD, LCD-LED and Plasma models, and I've enjoyed the picture best on their plasma displays. That said, I made the mistake of purchasing two Samsung D-Series plasma TVs. My PN51D8000 was the...

Excellent black levels at first; rich, colorful picture. Easy to calibrate. Screen uniformity was near flawless. Great picture for daytime use.

Too expensive for even Samsung to justify the repairs. D-Series panels only manufactured for one year; burn-in easy. Anti-reflective material peels from corners. Buzzing is audible even from distances greater than ten feet. Inside panel may crack.

2 months old and already have cracked screen (PDP).

Save yourself the trouble - Samsung knows this is a problem and doing nothing about it! Buy another brand!!

Pic was nice when it worked.

Faulty Plasma Display Panels (PDP's). Horrible customer service!!

Personally, I love this TV.

Overall this is a solid tv with a good picture for a decent price (if you know where to look.) Check out %s for coupons.

Decent size, sharp image and it's samsung!

A bit pricey.

The Search is Over

First off, let me say that I am extremely picky when it comes to HDTVs. I feel if I have to shell out over 3k for a high tech gadget, it might as well be perfect or near perfect. Let me exhale and say, that the search is finally over...I hope. To make...

+ Picture is simply stunning, colors are rich and vibrant + 3D image is very good + Sound is OK + Apps are cool and launch pretty quickly + Off angle viewing is good

- Buzz when the TV turns on - Browser needs improvement

A very beautiful, accurate TV.

All in all if you just want a TV that looks great and doesn't have all the problems that almost all LCD's have then buy this TV. You won't be disappointed. It really does look great. I have about 250 hours on this set with very little calibration done...

Picture quality, Color accuracy, Black levels, price

I still don't think 3D is ready for prim time. Not on any set. But this tv does it fairly well.
