Performance

Sony KF-WE610

Black-level performance on a par with DLP TVs'; slim, light, and stylish design; excellent feature package.

Black-level performance is still not quite as good as that of CRT-based RPTVs; lacks independent memory per input; expensive.

A huge leap forward in performance for LCD rear-projection TVs, the newest Grand WEGA line gives DLP a run for its money.

WEGA KDF E42A10

Just had the set a few days, got some digital and HDTV channels on the initial setup, great pictures. Next week the cable company comes to install the cable card and hook up the digital, so expect great things. Took about 10 minutes each for the analog...

Wega gate menu system. Footprint vs screen size. Manual is logical and easy to understand. Remote is easy to use and functions when pointed in the general direction of the TV

Sony Grand Wega 42-inch (KFE42A10)

Sony's LCD rear projection Grand Wega TV presents good images but the price point comparative to similar technologies makes this a hard product to recommend.

Crisp image display ; Lightweight unit ; Very easy to operate

Some poor viewing angles ; No digital tuner

The other catch against the KFE42A10 -- and it's certainly a bigger one than viewing angles, which are an issue for most rear projection TVs -- is the asking price. AU$3,000 for a 42-inch TV might seem like a very good price, until you realise that...

Good entry point for HDTV

I've had the 42A10 for a year this month and I've been very pleased with the set.

Only one HDMI input.

Love this TV

Great TV and the price is right too. Yes, it may need to have a bulb replaced every now and then, but if you by through Circuit City you can get them under warranty. Great Picture, wonderful features, only 70 lbs so you can move it around without any ...

Great Picture, wonderful features, doesn't have the same problems with burn issues or heat as plasmas.

I can't think of any except the bulb is around $250 to replace.

Sony KDF-E50A10 Not Reliable

Bought March 2006 and Aug 2007........If I had not bought a 5 year additional warrantee plan for $400, I would be junking this TV. 17 months and about 3000 hours of use has resulted in failure of the master computer module (has not been replaced yet so...

Very good picture. Light enough for 2 people to move in a station wagon.

Computer unit controlling vital functions failed and made unit inoperable. Need extra separate protection plan.

Sony KDF E42A10

I really loved the HD picture quality when it was working.

Bad long term performance. Warranty should be longer for known failures.

We bought the KDF-e42a10 model in Nov. 2005 and all of a sudden we are experiencing problems. The TV won't turn on and then after about 5 minutes the whole screen fills up with multiple vertical bars (multi-colored). Sounds like other people are ...
