Sony KDL-V5100 review: Sony KDL-V5100

Produces relatively deep black levels; accurate color in bright areas; solid dejudder processing in Standard mode; numerous picture controls; plenty of connectivity with four HDMI, two component-video and one PC input.

Dark areas tinged bluish; must engage dejudder to enable antiblur; pedestrian design; less uniform screen.

The commendable picture quality of Sony's entry-level 120Hz-equipped LCD makes it a very good value.

Sony Bravia KDL-40V5100 LCD HDTV First Impressions Review - Intro

The Sony Bravia KDL-40V5100 is flat-screen LCD HDTV with a 40" display. It features Sony's Motionflow 120Hz refresh rate technology and has a USB port to enable displaying media saved on other devices. The price of the KDL-40V5100 has not yet been...

The KDL-40V5100 is a nice-looking unit that offers ample connectivity options for the home theater where content doesn't just come from a cable box. We'd need to get it into our lab for testing to see how it performs, but we liked what we saw on the...

Sony KDL-40V5100 Review – 40-inch LCD HDTV

If you are a brand freak and you don't mind smaller sized TV, then the Sony KDL-40V5100 is a wise selection. This LCD HDTV is the smallest one in the manufacturer's KDL-V5100 line up. Sony has not invested much time on the look and feel or aesthetic...

With the eco features in the menu, you can choose the backlit intensity and also the energy star certification ensures that you do not have to pay higher electricity bills even when you play your TV for long hours.

Sony Bravia KDL-40V5100 LCD HDTV

As the most expensive entry in the group, as well as the smallest—though not by much in either case—a lot was expected of the Sony. True, it lacks many of the bells and whistles that raise a ruckus on the company's higher-end sets. There's no sign here...

Excellent

I have had this 46inch version of the Sony V5100 since December of last year and since then this has been the best purchase I have ever made as far as tv's are concerned. The PQ is nothing short of excellent and for tv speakers the sound is very good....

Good Value

Overall, I am happy with this TV. It is my first HDTV, A huge improvement from my old SD TV. I bought a Sony CT-100 sound bar to compliment this set, probably did not need it. Sound from set speakers would have been ok without it, given I am in a small...

Good value/Price, Speakers OK for me, I'm not an audiophile, Handles all my inputs, works together with other Bravia equipt. (blu-ray player, ct-100 speaker system, presumably others)

Visible non-uniformity in background when whole screen is black - not noticeable when viewing content

Impressive

I agonized a LOT before buying. Now I almost wish I had gotten the 46" instead only because if I ever decide to hang it on the wall, the larger picture would be better.

Very easy to set up. Love the way it talks to the Sony Blu-Ray Player and turns itself on when you put a disk in the Blu-Ray. This eliminated a lot of confusion by the highly technically challenged spouse. Great picture

If it HAS a con it would be the internal speakers which are not great, but I presume Sony expcets you to use a surround sound system with it anyway

A Pretty Good LCD

This is a great buy and I don't regret it. I am pretty happy with the screen's performance over all and the color reproduction is excellent. For the price being paid it would be nice if this set came with an HDMI cable. While it is not a Con, this...

Picture quality is excellent. Color reproduction is definitely above average and clarity is spectacular. I like the ease of use of the menu system and pairing this with a Sony home theater sound system to utilize the "Bravia Sync" as well as excellent...

The remote control could be much better. I would have liked to see a controller that would also control a DVD, Blueray, and Amp ; I don't like the glossy screen ; It doesn't do perform as well as it could with legacy video signals ; It didn't come with...
