Toshiba 46L5200U ( 45.63" viewable )

A couple of months ago, I asked how much you would pay for a new television. Unsurprisingly, half of the respondents said under $1,500, and almost half again said under a grand. Well, if that's you, the Toshiba 5200 LED-based LCD series might be a TV...

The Toshiba 5200 series has good all-around performance for the price, with relatively good black levels and shadow detail and minimal uniformity issues.

Color accuracy is a problem, with occasional greenish midtones. The backlight can fluctuate slightly between light and dark material. Unlike some TVs at this price level, there's no 3D or Smart TV.

The bare-bones Toshiba L5200 series offers respectable value for the money with fine picture quality for an edge-lit LED TV.

Toshiba 46L5200U

Accurate colors. Good viewing angles. Robust audio output

No Internet connectivity. Only three HDMI ports. Mediocre contrast ratio

Toshiba's L5200U HDTV line offers nice-looking LED-backlit screens that deliver solid color quality and a sharp HD picture, but come up short on contrast ratio and features.

Toshiba 46L5200U

Models in Toshiba L5200U series

Outstanding contrast and brightness ; Very good color performance ; Little to no light bleed ; Thin profile ; Reasonable price

Cheap-feeling stand and bezel ; Dated-looking remote ; No Internet connectivity ; Terrible on-board control buttons

The Toshiba 46L5200U makes an excellent solution as a wall-mounted, everyday watching TV and the price ain’t too shabby, either.

"Atrocious customer repair service as well."

If you expect lightening speed service when something goes wrong--forget it. I have had this tv for 8 months and the picture went out. I called Toshiba customer service and got hooked up to have this repaired, on site. It has now been almost two weeks...

Liked tv, when it worked.

Refuses to ship repair parts in timely manner.

"Defective TV Toshiba WON'T Honor Warrenty!!!"

Has a serious audio problem and they won't repair under warrenty, customer service says it is a minor problem for only a select few TV's. If you have Dish Network or Direct TV, the audio will become garbled and you will have to turn the TV off and then...

No redeaming qualities!!!

*Poor customer service.

Great picture

For a good price, tv has outstanding picture. Sound is a little bit tinny, but changing settings helped improve.

great deal

someone mentioned not getting TV code to work on other remotes..I was able to program it to my directv remote without an issue.

picture quality is excellent for a budget unit. Thin bezel and frame is nice

The speakers are indeed garbage. The speakers point down and will sound muffled no matter the volume ; You will def need a speaker system/sound bar if you plan on using it in a large living space ; also if you ever need to use the onboard tv buttons,...

Great TV with a few minor complaints

I would buy this TV again.

Set this TV up yesterday, was quite easy. The picture is awesome! Many have complained about the sound, but really does any flat screen TV have great sound? My other TV a Sony 32" doesn't, my friend's Samsung doesn't, nor have I heard great sound on...

My biggest complaint is you can ONLY use the remote that came with it. I can't use my Cable DVR remote. On calls to Time Warner and Toshiba, after about an hour trying to program it myself, no one had a code, and Toshiba said it would be about a year...
