Regza 42HL167

Toshiba's LCD scored so poorly in our picture-quality jury tests that we gave it a second chance. That time it did worse.

Nice remote Reasonably priced

Poor picture Difficult to set up

Toshiba's remote is a bit large, but a well-placed finger groove helps it fit nicely in the hand. The buttons are also large and easy to find, and it is programmable

Ultimate AV: Toshiba REGZA 52HL167 LCD 1080p Television

Things are changing rapidly in the television market, and changing rapidly at Toshiba as well. Only a couple of years ago that company's line was dominated by rear projection DLP designs. Today, flat panel LCDs are pushing those sets aside.

Toshiba REGZA 52HL167 LCD 1080p Television

Toshiba's flat panels carry the odd designation REGZA, which, as Toshiba informs us, stands for Real Experience Guaranteed by Amazing Architecture (probably sounds better in Japanese). The 1920x1080p 52HL167 ($3,499) is the top model in Toshiba's...

Toshiba REGZA 52HL167 LCD 1080p Television

The 1920x1080p 52HL167 ($3,499) is the top model in Toshiba's REGZA series of flat panels, which sits just below the top of the line Cinema Series. The equivalent Cinema Series model features a refresh rate of 120Hz, which is said to minimize motion...

Finally, the audio from Toshiba's SoundStrip2 system surprised me. It was reasonably well balanced and not actively irritating. Most of you will be using your own external sound systems most of the time, but I can guarantee you will find a need for at...

Toshiba 52HL167 52-inch LCD HDTV

Introduction Is 52 the new 42 in the world of flat-panel televisions? Last year, the 42-inch flat panel was the marquee TV, offering the perfect convergence of size and price that consumers craved. As flat-panel pricing continues to drop, consumers...

Best picture I've seen

Download the latest firmware here: http://support.toshiba.ca/support/ceg/downloads/all/view.asp?docid=D000016 (Fixes some minor problems)

I spent over 50 hours researching before choosing this model in Sept 2007. I found that ; Samsung uses the reflective LCD screens, so glare is a terrible problem ; Sony's are overpriced Sharp or Samsung panels (they don't make their own panels), and...

VGA input has max resolution of 1024x768, so you must use DVI (with an DVI-->HDMI cable) for computer monitor use ; TV understands 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, and NOTHING ELSE. If you try to run it in a resolution other than...

Mine died around 90 days

funny, the new unit is de-activated, only the re-certs remain, what does that say about the quality of these?

I bought mine NEW, no re-cert from NewEgg back in May. Awsome picture, easy to setup, delivery to my door

Mine died right around 90 days, I am going through the warranty with Toshiba now. I bought the extra warranty through NewEgg

Chi

Newegg delivery is very fast and excellent. The TV is being run continuously for one week. Defected electronic products usually die within days of use. If it endures, it will last for a long time under normal use. If not, I will return it.

A factory rectified product came with perfect package. No cosmetic damage whatsoever. Only has one dead pixel under close examination. Perfect picture with my HDDVD movie

Exceptional quality at this bargain price

A Great TV

This TV is a really great addition to any HD setup. Just be sure you're willing to move further into the world of HD before you pick it up, because non-HD is just disappointing on this screen.

A bright picture, really big. A lot of inputs for any device you need to hook up, and flawless HD. Good, bright sound that isn't as tinny as other HDTVs you see, and very customizable settings

Regular (non-HD) programming (whether cable, satellite,) or DVDs) looks grainy and is barely worth watching. Doesn't always automatically recognize channel names
