re: not true widescreen

all regular tv programs are broadcast through cable at 4:3. in oder to get the true widescreen picture that you are asking for, you must be hooked up to a high definition signal, in the form of your cable box since this has no HD tuner. This is common...

Not true widescreen

Instead of viewing wide format programs on a 20" screen, I now watch them on 16". I might have as well purchased a 4:3 and paid much less.

Great contrast ration - 1000:1! No problems with brightness. Wide swivel angle

Although 16:9, this model does not show TV programs that are broadcast in wide format IN 16:9 format. Instead, when you hit the "Wide" button, it stretches wide format programs (gets rid of side borders) and still leaves the borders on top and bottom....
