ProView Wireless Internet Camera

It's overall a decent IP camera that delivers respectable video output.

It excels in internet connectivity, with robust remote management and encryption

The camera itself is quite bulky and lacks features that enhance flexibility

The TRENDnet TV-IP501W ProView Internet Camera lacks a handful of flexible features we would like to see, including full night vision mode, two-way audio and pan and tilt capabilities. Additionally, the camera is large and bulky in comparison to other...

Very disappointed

I've wasted too much time trying to upgrade the firmware so that I can use the camera outdoors. I have tried to contact customer service at Trendnet and gotten no response. When I try to upload the firmware, it tells me the image file is damaged....

Non so far

Can't upgrade firmware. Won't work outdoors without upgraded firmware. Right now I have a paperweight in the shape of a camera

Not Linux Compatible!

Nice feature set, but only for Microsoft users with Active-X

Not Linux-compatible

Works fine

I will buy a few more of these cameras at some point.

Easy setup (Win 7 x64 for me) out of the box, either wired or wireless n. Good resolution, even in lower light. Also supports RTSP (TCP video streaming) via port 554. The Trendnet smartphone free apps are simple, but do the job. Does have motion...

Manual focus. No optical zoom. No pan and tilt. The software will do 16x digital zoom though, but so can most software media players. The camera has a microphone, but no external speaker (It has an audio "line out" port). The provided PC software is...

Good Camera

Good Camera, good price, NEWEGG! Easy to install, just make sure you upgrade the firmware first - thanks to the previous reviewer who pointed out that was important. It won't work with IE9 without the upgrade. In no time flat, these were installed and...

None so far, although I just installed them and haven't even installed the IPviewPro software to record stills. I'll update if I have issues

average, but acceptable for common use

Ok camera, but overpriced for the performance in my opinion; no updates to ROM even though they are well aware one is in need and image quality has been suffering for a long time.

Relatively easy to setup; various mount options, CS Lens (can be replaced), wireless or wired. network drive/share support, can be used with PTZ mounts

still draft N wireless; no updates for over a year; picture quality is only average in good light, completely washed out in very bright light, and very poor low light performance

Many features

Good value given all the features. The scheduling capability is unlimited and a varying schedule will require some thought to get it set up the way you want. Would have given it 5 stars if not for the firmware.

Many different configurable options. Good picture quality

Software isn't the most intuitive and takes awhile to learn all the quirks. There is a problem with the early firmware that renders outdoor viewing nearly unusable. It wasn't until I read these reviews and found out that upgrading firmware resolves...

Great IP Camera

I will be installing a few more of these around the house.

Very easy setup. In less than 20 minutes I had the camera wired and an IP Cam View app installed on my Droid. Very cool. Audio works great, small delay but crystal clear

great camera

I plan on purchasing more of these cameras.

This camera does not need to be hooked up to a PC and offers many customizable features such as motion detection triggers and the ability to record to any shared drive. Can hear sounds even when it is inside the outdoor housing unit

It was a little tricky to setup and focus needs to be done manually, but worked the way we wanted it to once it was setup. We had to purchase a housing unit to put it outside. Wireless didn't work for our application since the distance between the...

Great deal

I got this after Newegg reduced the price and during a 48 hour sale. I can live with the cons at this price. Better suited for indoor use rather than outdoor environments. Shipped to me with hardware rev 1.3R. The camera seems to do some on the fly...

Excellent price for the features ; Very sensitive mic ; Can use standard CS mount lenses ; Easy to setup ; SD recording ; Auto forwarded my router ports via UPnP for easy net access ; Works with Synology Diskstation ; I was surprised by the image...

Not the best color reproduction (mainly blues/greens) ; No auto focus ; No auto iris connector ; Have to bring your own speaker. Specs hint that it has a built in speaker, but it is just a headphone style connector ; Shipped with older firmware and had...
