Altec Lansing FX4021

The FX4021 is a fine choice for gamers looking for some thunder.

Deep, thunderous subwoofer. Nice "SFX" function for gamers. Good overall audio quality for music and DVDs. Useful, small remote. Powerful output.

Subwoofer is pretty big. Hard to tell whether "loudness" or "SFX" is selected at times. Mid-high frequencies seem a bit muffled when EQ is flat.

Unless in a noise critical workplace every PC needs a set of speakers and really the only decision to be made is whether the system needs 5.1 or 2.1 sound. Chances are many people will not have the space for a 5.1 system so this really makes the choice...

Review: Altec Lansing FX4021

A few years back, we took a look at Altec Lansing's FX6021, a speaker system that screams Power Mac G5. With an appropriately-proportionate price tag, you got a nice set of speakers that fit in well with your system. Unfortunately, there are more...

Fast and easy set up, powerful bass, satellites can hang on a wall or stand on a desk, control pod's accessibility, multiple inputs

Best suited for only certain types of music, wall-mounts not included

The FX4021 is a decently-priced, more competitive alternative to its more expensive sibling, the FX6021.

Altec Lansing FX4021

Altec Lansing recently announced two new speaker systems, and we are taking a look at the smaller of the two. The FX4021 is a 2.1 system that promises high-end sound in a compact, and stylish package.

Not much can be said about the installation process, except that it was easy. Could it be anything but, really? 5.1 systems require more cords to be used, but that's not a problem here. The most difficult part would be finding a spot for the satellites...

Altec Lansing FX4021

Good sound with certain types of music, Looks good

Sub sounds hollow and distorted at loud volumes, Sub often sounds boomy

The FX4021 is a competent set of PC speakers that is very much suited to bass-heavy music.

Altec Lansing - FX4021

One of the easiest ways to improve the sound quality of a desktop or laptop PC is to use better speakers. Even if you don't have a 5.1, 6.1 or 7.1-channel sound card in your machine, ...

This is a smart set of speakers using a novel bass speaker design, which gives a good thumping bass while not overpowering the mid-range and treble frequencies provided by the two reasonable satellites. While not in the true hi-fi class, the FX4021...

ALTEC LANSING FX4021 46 Watts 2.1 High Style Stereo System - Retail

this is a good speaker set for the person who likes loud but not absurbly loud music. for the latter people, look elsewhere. there is too much distortion at these levels.

Very clear sounds, the sfx button does awesome things, bass is good until you turn it way up, remote and control pod very useful, good price

sub rattles at very high levels and bass becomes very distorted and weak at high levels. Must keep the loudness button on most of the time for sastisfactory sounds. lights on control pod hard to see from further away

Amazing

i have the volume on 100% so i can control it from my comp and receive the max if i desire it. the satellites are sufficient. sub is amazing. buy them

This sub is better than the one in my S550

The satellites are not mind blowing, the sub is. i dont see much of a diff from the sfx and loud settings. on one note i do hear slight hissing from the satellites, very slight, only something i would pick up. but they def do give a hiss even wen u...
