Polk Signa S1

The Polk Signa S1 is a no-frills soundbar that offers very good performance for an affordable price.

Balanced and clean audio performance. Simulated surround can produce a wide sound field. Bluetooth connectivity. Affordable.

Subwoofer could be more powerful.

If you're willing to spend more for slightly better sound in a one-piece, subwoofer-free design, the Sonos Playbase is another very good option. It costs far more than the S1 and shares the same ultra-low frequency weakness if you don't get the...

Polk Signa S1 review

"You get what you pay for" still has meaning, but some companies are now working to attract the entry-level home theater shopper with cheap products that actually sound good too.

The Signa S1 offers excellent music replay for the money and decent intelligibility in movies. The provision of a separate subwoofer means it can go lower than some competitors that lack subs.

Less clarity and dynamic punch with action-packed movies compared to some rivals. No HDMI.

For a budget-priced sound bar system, the Polk Signa S1 sounds a lot bigger than it really is.

Polk Signa S1 Universal TV Sound Bar and Wireless Subwoofer System

Polk Audio announced their Signa S1 Soundbar at CES. For $179 you get an impressive 5.1 slim soundbar that connects easily through an optical cable and a wireless sub for extra bass. Check it out.

Polk Audio Signa S1 soundbar review: This budget speaker is a big improvement over the built-in audio in most TVs

Polk's Signa S1 soundbar and wireless subwoofer offer a super-slim package at a budget price for those wanting to hear what they've been missing from their TV's built-in audio.

Significantly improves dialog intelligibility ; Ultra-slim footprint ; Very good late-night listening mode

Indicator LEDs aren't very useful ; Lacks the top-end sizzle and low-end authority you'll find in higher-priced soundbars ; Aggressive voice enhancement settings sound artificial

Polk’s Signa S1 soundbar does an excellent job of elevating your listening experience beyond the limitations of your TV’s built-in speakers, and for an extremely modest investment. Chief among its strengths, the Signs S1 does an outstanding job of...

Great sound and value, rubbish remote control

Had to return a different make as the sub-woofer was dropping its connection every few seconds. Got one of these as a similar price, really glad I did. Noticeably better all round with more depth and clarity to the sound and the sub-woofer does not...

Great little sound system for the money

Very easy to set up, wireless pairing between base unit and bar was seamless and very quick. Sound quality is very good and considerably better than the default sound you get from most flat screen TVs. The soundbar is slim and well designed, not taking...
