MVBD-2510

The Memorex MVBD2510 Blu-ray player has a disappointing design and offers unexceptional images, but at least the price is right.

Plays photos and music via USB ; Well-made documentation

Lacks on-board decoding of high-def audio formats ; Poorly designed remote

You expect a no-frills player for $175, and that's what you get with the Memorex MVBD2510. You'll need to spend more money if you want better image quality or a more full-featured player

Memorex MVBD2510 Blu-ray Player Review

The MVBD2510 is one of the most inexpensive Blu-ray players to hit store shelves in 2008. The trouble is this player offers only mediocre playback quality of both DVDs and BD content. It will

Inexpensive street price ; USB 2.0 input ; Analogue 5.1 outputs

No BD Live (Profile 1.1 only) ; Poor video processing ; No noise reduction ; Doesn't decode DTS-HD Master Audio (will bitstream it) ; Cannot send 480i via HDMI

Memorex MVBD2510 Blu-Ray Player Reviewed

Memorex's first Blu-ray player sports the Profile 1.1 spec, so it supports BonusView picture-in-picture technology but not the Web-based BD-Live service. It lacks a streaming video-on-demand service like Netflix, but it does offer 5.1-channel analog...

The MVBD2510 supports 1080p/24 output for Blu-ray titles ; The player can pass Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio in bitstreamform over HDMI, and it can internally decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HDHigh Resolution. Multichannel analog audio outputs are...

The MVBD2510 lacks internal decoding of DTS-HD Master Audio, which is more common than DTS-HD High Resolution ; This is not a Profile 2.0 player and therefore lacks an Ethernet port for BD-Live and firmware updates ; The lack of network connectivity...

While the MVBD2510 is a good value, there are now a number of Profile2.0 players that offer more Blu-ray functionality for a similar price. If you are not interested in BD-Live Web features and are looking for areasonably priced unit to connect to an...

Maybe Not

Maybe its something with spy movies it doesnt like!?

Its plays blu-ray disks. Its easy to configure

It keeps downgrading to 1080i, and it wont play some movies(007-Thunderball and Mr. & Mrs Smith). At 1st I couldnt play "Get Smart" but a firmware update fixed that. I understand this is a basic/entry level blu-ray player so expect the technical...

Better than I expected

as I have not owned this item for very long, I can clearly not speak to its reliability.

I am extremely pleased. Not only does the player perform as expected, it offers several useful features that are not documented anywhere. To whit: it can play divx, xvid, h.264, and pretty much any standard video codec I've thrown at it. I doubt it can...

It can't understand a usb-connected external hd formatted to macOS filesystem. I haven't tried a NTFS external, but I'd imagine the same would apply. The manual is terrible, and is clearly a low-priority translation effort. All the manual is...

check memorex website for firmware updates

If you are having trouble with your player, check the Memorex website for your model and download firmware update that addresses glitches in some models. I bought the MVDB2520 and it also needed the firmware update. Make sure your player is set to BD...

I wish I could give it zero stars

not even worth a single star

Constantly skips DVDs, and now failing to play blu-ray discs without heavy pixelation. Already returned it once. By far an inferior product. I think I would have better luck trying to hold the blu-ray up to a bright light and spinning it to see the...

Memorex MVBD-2510 Blu-ray Player

Memorex NEVER issues firmware. This player is fine for older movies, but most new releases won't play in it until Memorex issues newer firmware. Save your money, and look elsewhere.

Good Performance. Great value

Absolutely no customer service
