Canon Vixia HF R10 review: Canon Vixia HF R10

Canon Vixia HF R10

Mic and headphone jacks rare in this price class; straightforward and functional design.

Poor low-light video and color accuracy; lens doesn't focus very closely; subpar battery life.

If you're looking to shoot great HD video on the cheap, keep looking; the Canon Vixia HF R series delivers decent video at best, even for its modest price. But for a low-priced model with mic and headphone jacks, the HF R100 is a pretty good deal.

Canon Vixia HF R10 review

There's a lot to like about Canon's entry-level Vixia HF R series of "high-definition" camcorders, such as its user interface--which is better than that of its more expensive sibling--and its mic and headphone jacks, which are a rare find in this...

Consumer review (newegg.com)

Good for the price while it works.

Had it for two years, lost the charger. Bought a new charger a few months later. Found out the auto-focus was stuck/broken. Now it is a paperweight.

Low price ; Nice features ; Compact

Poor quality in low light ; Battery dies before the internal memory is even half-full

Canon VIXIA HF R10 Silver 1/5.5" CMOS 2.7" 112K LCD 20X Optical Zoom 8GB HD Dual Flash Memory Camcorder

Bought this as we were having our first child and it does very well. We don't seem to record more than 5mins at a time oddly enough but it gets the video in HD. Did have to track down which of our cats was causing problems with stuff on the counter and...

Quick variable zoom, many functions. Can record around 10hrs straight (with extra SD card). Tiny

Has an IR filter which hinders low-light recording (barely picks up IR, even bright IR in the dark). Menus can be a hassle to navigate to change a setting or reach a feature. Pictures/stills are so-so quality due to smaller MP of the sensor

Compact quality

Indeed the stock, supplied battery's life isn't a world beater, but it's not horrible. You can pick up extra batteries very inexpensively and with greater capacity. I picked up 2 extras along with a stand alone charger (otherwise you have to charge the...

This camcorder has a good zoom, good color accuracy (though this suffers under low-light conditions; typical of most camcorders until you reach the big bucks range), sharp picture and bright display. It has enough special effects to keep the...

In my personal use, I can only find one thing I wish it had, but I'm not going to knock it for lacking. It doesn't have a neck strap, nor is it made for one; though with a little imagination, one can be made

Low battery life

Decent camcorder. HD, compact and easy to carry around. Features on it are ok but navigation can get confusing at times

I wish I would have spent a little more for a better camcorder ; Battery life on this thing is HORRIBLE ; No night vision ; makes a shuddering noise when zooming in and out or when the camera is moving ; Spend another hundred or two and get a better...

Canon VIXIA HF R10

To expensive for what you get.

Somewhat of a low price

It makes a VERY annoying sound inside that is picked from the microphone when recording. I called CANON, they said it was the dynamic stabilizer and if I turned it off the sound would stop, Well that didn't work because I think it's the lens that does...
