Lark around the beach without worrying about getting your camcorder wet.

If you're looking for a waterproof vacation camera, the Xacti CA65 is more convenient than using a still camera with a waterproof case. The only drawback is the battery life, we couldn't think of a camcorder better fitted for backpacking, but with just...

Sanyo Xacti VPC-CA65 (EXW)

Waterproof to 1.5 metres, reasonable video quality for asking price, 6-megapixel still images mode

Erratic auto focus, overly small controls, no underwater scene mode.

The VPC-CA65 (EXW) is a semi-decent underwater camcorder that's unlikely to break your bank balance. However, it has been outclassed by the Panasonic SDR-SW20, which offers better features for a similar price tag.

Sanyo Xacti VPC-CA65 review

It looks and feels like the CG65, so what's the difference?

Excellent value ; Good features and performance

Sound recording not the best underwater

We liked the SD version of the VPC-CA65 and this version changes a colour and makes the statement that it works underwater. It does. It ticks all the performance and features boxes you would expect at this price too, so that puts it in a category of one.

Sanyo - Xacti VPC-CA65

Sanyo's Xacti range has sported the unusual but undeniably original ‘gun look' for a good few years now. Although smaller details such as colour, size and specifications have altered from model to model, the general idea ...

The Sanyo VPC-CA65 is a compact and sturdy-feeling digital movie and stills camera that is reliable and easy to operate. Although the distinctive and original body shape feels a little uncomfortable and somewhat awkward to use with one hand only, once...

Sanyo Xacti CA65

Is Sanyo's waterproof casing set to make waves?

A good camera with a great USP, but there is some improvement in the desig nand usabilty stakes.

Sanyo VPC-CA65EXW

Sanyo's VPC-CA65EXW (we'll call it the CA65) underwater camera is designed with summer fun in mind. It's waterproof to a depth of 1.5 metres and shoots both 6-megapixel still images and high quality digital video at 640x480 resolution and 30 frames...

Things aren't perfect however. While the CA65 is capable of producing decent 6-megapixel shots, the quality of the output is heavily affected by the situation the camera is being used in. There are a number of reasons for this. Auto focus, for example,...

Sanyo Xacti VPC-CA65

Sanyo made a literal and metaphorical 'splash' with its Xacti VPC-CA6, which it claimed could resist threatening torrents of water, coffee, saliva etc. Emboldened by this stand against the elements, the company has now taken on the very might of the ocean

Excellent value, Good features and performance

Consumer review (productreview.com.au)

didnt last long

was a fantastic bit of kit while it lasted, but after three months of occasionally getting wet in the ocean it started playing up and eventually stopped working all together. I dismantled it and although there was no obvious signs of water in it there...
