Sony HDR-CX100 review: Sony HDR-CX100

Sony HDR-CX100

Compact and attractive; above-average low-light video.

Not terribly great lens; occasionally awkward design.

You can tell where Sony cut corners on this compact, flash-based HD camcorder. While it's decent, there are better options for the money than the Sony Handycam HDR-CX100.

Sony HDR-CX100 Camcorder Review

Looking at the high competition levels that exist in the market Sony has moved into manufacturing budgetal camcorders which cost less than $600.  The camcorders are generally divided into two categories: one which is compact but less powerful and the...

Sony HDR-CX100

Ultra-compact flash memory camcorder with 1920x1080i video resolution

Good low-light performance, 8GB inbuilt memory, attractive and lightweight design, lots of features for the asking price

No external audio options, shake-free video takes practice

The Sony HDR-CX100 is an impressive flash memory handycam that offers a solid performance across the board. If you're looking for an affordable high-definition camcorder, it will not disappoint.

Sony HDR-CX100 review

Sony's first attempt to produce an HD camcorder for less than $600 is a bit of a mixed bag. Like all its competitors, the company has driven its flash and hard-disk HD development in two directions: one road leads to compact and less powerful models,...

Sony HDR-CX100E: Affordable Full HD Camcorder

Compact and stylish

Compact, full HD recording, superb price, stylish, swivel touchscreen controls, excellent build, very light, crisp image quality, crystal clear sound, smooth and silent optical zoom, good battery life, SteadyShot, Face Detection, Smile Shutter

No carry pouch, no optical viewfinder, touchscreen controls may be difficult to use, no wireless controller, awkwardly placed USB port, no headphone jack

Sony Handycam HDR-CX100/R 10X Zoom Digital Camcorder - MSRP: $499.99

PROS Shooting a video from a distance is great, picture is great, while videotaping it also takes pictures. CONS The life of the battery doesn't last too long.

Awesome HD Camcorder

"This camcorder is so cool. I thought it was going to be big but when I received it, it was tiny. It fits in the palm of my hand. This is a great HD camcorder for the price! The zoom is superb and it goes VERY far, although it is hard to hold still...

Small compact design, touch screen, great battery life, awesome zoom, HD video, great still pictures, built-in memory
