Sony Handycam HDR-CX190 review: Sony Handycam HDR-CX190

Sony Handycam HDR-CX190

Sony's entry-level Handycams, the ; are small, lightweight and cheap. A captive USB cable that enables charging while connected to your computer is one of the few perks.

You can't really call the video HD quality, the camcorder feels flimsy and the lens is prone to fringing.

They're cheap and capture video, but don't buy the Sony Handycam HDR-CX190, CX200 or CX210 thinking that you're getting a great bargain on a real HD camcorder. If you're going to buy one, get the cheapest; nothing on any of these is really worth the...

Sony Handycam HDR-CX190 review

Sony's trio of entry-level camcorders -- the Handycam HDR-CX190, CX200 and CX210 -- seem amazingly, aggressively priced. But they're priced like standard-definition camcorders because they use SD-level components to produce video in HD format but not...

SD card handycams are poor-may want to try other brand.

RETRO. Technology has gone back 20 years. Very disappointed with the HDR-CX190. In order to record media to playable discs, etc, you have to purchase for $200.00 the Multifunction DVD Recorder VRD-MC6. You must develop a relationship with the Sony help...

There is none.

Have to use multiple cables and develop a reationship with Sony helpline in order to record your recordings to playable dvd, and its not HD as promised. Seems like they are promoting you to by Blu-ray players in order to view your media. Retro tech.

"CX-190E: Its says it is Full HD but it is not."

It can decieve customers to buy assuming it to be FULL HD

A Pathatic way of decieving customers. A standard picture is digitally enhanced to high resolution of Full HD, the picuture becomes blur even when played back on HD Computer Screen. Sony Marketing Congratulations .... you decieved me here

Great Value, Would recommend to a friend.

I purchased this camera today because I wanted an affordable HD video camera. I have to say from what I seen so far, this is a winner. I am a semi pro photographer and have sunk most of my money into Nikon DSLR's but I wanted something small and...

Small, lightweight, sensitive mic, user friendly

Don't get

I got this camera for to record videos for my company. I use it for recording the screen of my iPhone and iPad. The quality of the video is really horrible. The camera picks out every pixel in the screen of my iPhone and makes the video very blurry....

Big amount of storage space, easy computer connectivity, light weight

poor quality video, short battery life, focus, limited amount of personalization

A good buy for home/travel recording.

Records in nice definition, my parents can use it with the software suite to import and share videos and pictures. Easy to use, easy to browse, organizes videos and pictures into folders automatically. Turns on/off by flipping LCD screen open/close....

Problems with the initial software suite not working and not updating correctly. Be sure to just download version 2 from Sony's website. If you like viewfinders, this is not for you. The only visual is by looking at the flip-out LCD screen.

Great video, awful audio, awful Sony support.

I will not purchase from Sony again, it was an awful experience.

Video quality: 9/10 Autofocus: 9/10 Just as it says, the video quality is great. It also has a wonderful live HDMI output, and a zoom-microphone function that allows you to hear what people are saying if you zoom in on somebody far away. The 25x...

Audio quality: 3/10 Sony's support: 0/10 The audio produces a white noise, even in completely silent environments. It makes the video almost unbearable to watch. I tried Sony's live chat support, they walked me through the basics of resetting but that...
