Fetch the hose! Our tiny Panasonic SD5 and mini Sony CX6 HD 'corders are scrapping again. Time to settle this fight once and for all

A tiny package, great footage and a worthy stills performance make this the ultimate holiday cam – we just wish it could be a tad cheaper

Sony HDR-CX6 review

This £750 SD-based model is easily the smallest HD camcorder on test.

User-friendly menus ; Touchscreen functionality ; Strong audio

Disappointing HD performance ; Pricey

Some nice touches, but we don't feel the HDR-CX6 manages to justify its price with its poor quality HD

Sony's latest Handycam is likely to be worshipped by audovisual aesthetes everywhere with its gorgeous glossy black looks and simple, but impressive design.

Attractive, and handles well, Generous features, A good price for a HD camcorder

No external mic input, No viewfinder

The CX6 is great to look at and has all the functionality that you expect from Sony. The footage we shot was without compromise, although the HD footage didn't have the 'shine' we were expecting. At this price point, though, Sony has delivered a great cam

No viewfinder. Would be useful in very bright light

Sony Handycam HDR-CX6EK

Image quality for a small camera. It's not until you stick this on a 42" 1080 that you appreciate the pixel fine quality, not grainy at all

Power button is sometimes awkward, it's all too easy to switch on the still camera rather than the video camera, nightmare when you need it quick
