Review: BlueAnt V12 LCD Bluetooth Headset

When you hear the term V12 you typically think “insanely fast exotic sports car,” not “solidly designed handsfree set.” Oh, how your perceptions are going...

LCD displays caller-ID and battery-life. Voice-activated dialing. At half an ounce, it’s light enough for all-day wear. Excellent battery means you may run out of anytime minutes before the V12 runs out of juice. Affordable

LCD display looks like it was grafted from a 1980s era graphing calculator. Can only connect to one Bluetooth device at a time. Loud, obnoxious colors are a bit of a fashion faux pas, but then, isn’t that the point of a wireless headset

Blueant V12 LCD Bluetooth Headset

Incorporating an LCD into a headset is not the most obvious design choice. After all, your ear is not usually in your line of vision. Still, it can be darn handy for screening calls without having to check you actual handset. The screen on BlueAnt's...

LCD provides status information other headsets can't. Lanyard is helpful for getting the visuals off the LCD. Slips on easily. Lightweight

Bulky. Caller ID displays phone numbers rather than names

For those who are looking to put some distance between themselves and their handsets, the V12 offers plenty of information on its nifty LCD.

Review: Blueant v12 Bluetooth Headset

Bluetooth headsets range from the plain to the feature riddled. The BlueAnt V12 LCD Bluetooth Headset ($59.95) falls into the latter category. Decked with features such as vibrating alert,

Feature packed, LCD, Lanyard Carry option, Generous Operational Range, The lanyard is a nice option

Connection / Clarity: 4, Battery Life: 5, Comfort: 4, Value: 5, Earpiece volume is slightly muffled

Just out of the box, I was a little apprehensive of the V12. It almost felt as if it had too many features and I had concerns that the LCD was overkill. Having used the V12 for a few days, the device began to grow on me. I really liked the option to...

BlueAnt V12 LCD Bluetooth Headset

Over the last year, the number of individuals wearing a Bluetooth headset has proliferated at an amazing speed. The technology now provides good sound

Caller ID display and history ; Works well in noisy environment ; Vibrate mode ; Headset initiated handset audio transfer

Micro USB charging connector ; Caller ID name not displayed ; Some white noise in quiet environment

The BlueAnt V12 LCD Bluetooth headset addresses my issues with having a headset glued to my ear 24 x 7. I can carry it in my pocket, it will vibrate when a calls come in, I can retrieve it, and view the caller's phone number before choosing to answer...

BlueAnt V12 Headset

The V12 is BlueAnt's most advanced Bluetooth headset, and not a terribly bad-looking one either. Most distinctive about the V12 is the small monochrome LCD display on the side. The LCD displays the number of the incoming or outgoing call so you can...

Sound quality of the V12 was about the best of any Bluetooth head unit I've used. The mic was sensitive enough so I didn't feel I had to shout to be heard (a lesson several people on the commuter train I ride should learn) and volume on the speaker was...

BlueAnt Wireless V12 LCD

The BlueAnt Wireless V12 LCD Bluetooth headset solves the problem of not being able to see the caller ID when the headset is worn on the ear by providing a micro USB lanyard to wear around the neck, plus a vibrating alert feature.

LCD for viewing caller ID and battery status ; Stores up to 10 contacts ; Comfortably fit ; Pretty good sound quality ; Vibrating alert ; Micro USB lanyard so you don't have to wear it on your ear all the time

Rather bulky ; Boring design ; Tiny volume buttons on its side

Editor's note: The T-Mobile Sidekick 3 mentioned in this review was used for testing purposes only and is not currently available in the Australian market.

Consumer review (newegg.com)

high hopes dashed

For the features want I should have gotten either the Jabra BT8010 or BT800, but I thought I could save some money

Smaller than you would think with lcd display. Vibrating alert

Backlight nearly useless. Sound quality sub par. Have gone thru 2 Units. 1st one dropped calls after 45 seconds. 2nd unit worked better but no one could hear me speak. both useless would score lower if I could

Okay at best

It has a long battery life and caller Id is cool

Its not loud enough and no one on the other end can hear me. I think bluetooth is a bad technology

Great Reception. Poor ergonomics

I own a Treo 650 which is carry in a holster.

The ear hook is extremely rigid .
