HTC Desire 626 review

HTC's latest budget handset is like too many modern phones: good looking, but blown away by the competition.

Once again, HTC designed a good looking phone, but failed to power it with the right stuff. The display and battery are good enough, but the processor and camera are well behind its competitors.

HTC Desire 626 (Verizon Wireless)

The HTC Desire 626 is an affordable, attractive Android phone for Verizon that's held back by poor battery life and slow performance.

Affordable. Attractive design. Decent camera. Expandable storage. Loud speaker.

Slow performance. Short battery life. Lots of bloatware.

Software and Conclusions The Desire 626 runs Google Android 5.1 Lollipop , and according to HTC's update tracker , there is no Android 6.0 Marshmallow update scheduled. HTC's Sense 7.0 skin makes a number of changes to Android—app icons, the...

HTC Desire 626 Review

Even though it's been a tough year for HTC, the Taiwan-based company is always continuing to diversify its robust portfolio. This time, here comes the HTC Desire 626. Knowing what's out there already, can this sub-$200 offering stand out in a sea...

Inexpensive $185 outright cost ; Charming design ; Strong volume with the earpiece ; Expandable storage

Camera image white balance is often off ; Atrocious 720p video recording quality ; Choppy performance with heavier operations ; Subdued speakerphone output

Right now, the 2015 edition of the Moto G is the benchmark that many folks will use to compare phones that are within the same scope. Indeed, the HTC Desire 626’s outright price point of $185 makes it an attractive offering, especially if you find its...

HTC Desire 626 Review

At first, the $185 HTC Desire 626 seems like a great deal. It has a big, bright LCD display; a crisp 8-MP rear camera; expandable storage; and a customizable design that lets you stand out. But the dismal battery life means you should probably look...

Bright display ; Fun, colorful design ; Sharp rear camera

Awful battery life

The HTC Desire 626 offers a bright display, a sharp 8-MP camera and boldly colored designs, but its short battery life is a deal breaker.

HTC Desire 626 review

The HTC Desire 626 is a very nicely-styled phone. Slim and light weight, with a large 5-inch screen, it's the ideal size for a modern smartphone. The Desire 626 is billed as a mid-range phone, and ticks the right boxes regarding performance and...

The HTC Desire 626 looks nice, feels nice, and is great to handle. The 5-inch display, slim design and light weight make it a lovely phone to use. It comes with Android Lollipop, has a decent processor and camera, and is 4G-compatible.

HTC Desire 626 Review: affordable, but it falls short of awesome

The Desire line has always targeted the mid-range, which is exactly where this phone fits.

Great battery life ; Good size and elegant design ; MicroSD slot for external storage

Cameras were good, but not great ; Despite looking like two, there’s only one front-firing speaker ; Low resolution screen ; Below average performance

Typically, when we review a phone out here in the Pocketnow Utah offices, we carry our daily driver alongside the review device. This time, the review device was good enough, though not particularly fast, to accomplish all our daily activities. If...

HTC Desire 626 review

It's the affordable option, not the powerful one.

Awesome battery ; Great size and design ; SD slot for expanded storage

Single speaker ; low resolution ; below average load times

The HTC Desire 626 is built to be an affordable and worthwhile purchase. While it isn't the frontrunner of the class, it still packs a punch. The battery life, design, and easy expansion of storage space are fantastic even when the trade off is a lower...

What does HTC's latest affordable smartphone have to offer? We find out, in this in-depth HTC Desire 626 review!

Exceptional design ; Relatively good camera ; Excellent software experience ; Affordable price

Slow performance ; Below average battery life ; Display sharpening issues ; Lots of bloatware

The HTC Desire 626 packs what is expected from an HTC smartphone, including a beautiful design and solid build quality, and an excellent software experience. Apart from a good camera, there are some disappointing flaws in other aspects, like...

HTC Desire 626 review: A budget device through and through

As smartphone production costs plummet, OEMs have a new affordable category to consider and corner. With HTC's future on the line, let's see how its latest entry fairs with strong value driven offerings on the rise.

Unless you’re shopping for your kids or looking for a cheap burner device, I can’t think of a reason to seriously consider the 626, especially as strong contenders like the OnePlus 2 and the ZenFone 2 start creeping dangerously close to the budget...

Review: HTC Desire 626 for AT&T

This mid-range handset from HTC borrows from the company's high-end designs and repackages them in a more affordable piece of hardware. With Android and Sense aboard, owners have plenty of options to make the Desire 626 their own. Here is Phone Scoop's...

The hardware's design is pleasant enough and assembled well. The screen is decent and wireless performance is all right, but I was a bit disappointed by battery life and the processor's performance. HTC's treatment of Android may offer lots of...
