The Ascend Mate7 is probably a logical next step for Huawei after a couple of solid midrange attempts in the same genre. The Mate7 will mix with the big boys in a niche, which has only been getting busier and has a prominent newcomer this season.

Here's hoping that Huawei continues to improve as they've again showed that they have the potential. They're on the right track with the ideas, but still stumbling on execution.

In total, Huawei's iPhone rival made a very good impression in the test. Apart from the graphics unit that we "only" see in the upper range, it provides premium-range performance. The minor weaknesses that we could measure are more theoretical....

With the Ascend Mate 7, Huawei has finally positioned itself as a premium handset maker. It's certainly a valiant effort, although there is certainly room for improvement in some areas.
