Moto G50 review

First, it was the Moto G 5G Plus about a year ago, and now it's the Moto G50. What do they have in common? Well, they are both Motorola's attempts to...

High refresh rate screen.

Screen is low resolution and that doesn't get very bright.

We feel like these cheap 5G phones are merely intended to bolster carrier portfolios around the world and help promote their budding 5G networks rather than meeting any practical consumer needs and we find them hard to recommend over their LTE-only...

Motorola Moto G50 review: 5G for the masses

The Motorola family just keeps growing and growing. I've completely lost track of all the models that are currently on the market, and the naming scheme doesn't help either. The Moto G50 is one of the latest additions to the family and it's a small...

5G for the masses ; Affordable ; Impressive battery life ; Decent main camera ; 90Hz refresh rate ; Fast and accurate fingerprint reader (rear-mounted) ; 3.5mm audio jack

Low-resolution display, not very bright ; Slow charging speeds ; No ultrawide camera ; Video recording tops at 1080p ; Occasional stutter

Motorola Moto G50 Review | Trusted Reviews

Not bothered about that extra layer of tech skimmed off to accomodate 5G? You'll probably like the Motorola Moto G50 a lot.

Excellent battery life ; 5G at a sensible price ; Solid general performance

Weak camera array ; Lower resolution screen

Motorola Moto G50 review: another budget phone with basic specs

The Motorola Moto G50 won't wow you with features but it is very cheap

Decent performance ; Good battery life ; Supports 5G

Only 64GB of storage ; Average camera ; No waterproofing

The Motorola Moto G50 is a cheap 5G smartphone with a big colourful screen and decent battery life. Granted, the camera leaves a lot to be desired, and there’s no specific area it excels in but that’s expected if you’re spending so little on a phone.

Moto G50 review: The odd one out?

The G50 sells itself on 5G connectivity. Thing is, it's less specified than other G series handsets lower in the range. So does it make sense?

Long-lasting battery life ; It's got 5G connectivity ; Smooth software experience

Confusing name - lower spec than the G30 for the sake of 5G ; Limiting cameras setup

All in all this isn't a bad phone. If you bought one you'd probably be content with its capabilities. What it is, however, is a confusing entry to the G-series, skewing the range's numbering convention and delivering a handset that - aside from the 5G...

Motorola Moto G50 review

Wallet-friendly 5G done the Moto way

Punchy display with smooth frame rate ; 5G connectivity at a sensible price ; Solid battery life

Only one of the three cameras worth talking about ; Charging not the fastest ; Storage down on cheaper G30

A capable mid-ranger that squeezes in 5G support for less than you expect. The G50 isn’t an absolute bargain like previous G series phones, but it largely delivers in all areas for the price

Motorola Moto G50 review

The Moto G50 is Motorola's cheaper route to a 5G life – here's what our experts had to say.

Low price for 5G ; Excellent battery life ; Decent, if mono, speaker

Low resolution screen ; Basic camera array ; It’s not a gaming powerhouse

The Moto G50 is a solid, no-nonsense Android for someone keen on having 5G in their next phone but who is otherwise more concerned about long battery life than other tech frills.
