Nokia Lumia Icon review: Perfect frame

The Nokia Lumia Icon for Verizon Wireless is the most capable smartphone to come out of the Finnish manufacturer to date. A successor to the Nokia Lumia 928, the carrier-exclusive Windows Phone handset ticks all the boxes of a proper...

Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support ; Quad-band 3G with 21.1 Mbps HSDPA and 5.7 Mbps HSUPA support ; Tri-band LTE Cat4 support, 150Mbps downlink, 50Mbps uplink ; 5" 16M-color 1080p ClearBlack AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, Corning Gorilla Glass 3, Nokia...

Mediocre battery life ; Somewhat thick for a flagship ; No microSD card slot ; Over the top carrier branding somewhat spoils the design ; Lack of support for Nokia Glance Screen ; Only available for Verizon Wireless in the United States

Nokia Lumia Icon review: a big step forward for Windows Phone

When Nokia came out with the Lumia 1520, we were treated to a new side of Windows Phone. All of a sudden, Microsoft's smartphone OS had come of age; it w

Amazing 1080p display ; Excellent performance ; Good battery life ; Fantastic imaging experience ; Great audio quality

Uninspired design ; Verizon-only ; No global LTE roaming

The Lumia Icon is the solid high-end Windows Phone that we've wanted for a long time. It has an amazing display, great performance and solid imaging capability, but its exclusivity to Verizon will severely limit its appeal.

Nokia Lumia Icon review: The best Windows Phone so far

Nokia's latest flagship Windows Phone, the Nokia Lumia, is a very good phone, period, albeit with one significant flaw.

Modern, competitive hardware inside a well-built chassis ; Nokia’s own apps make up for holes in the Windows Phone app lineup

Noticeable shutter lag detracts from the camera experience ; Windows app store still lags that of Android, iOS

While the Nokia Lumia Icon for Verizon remains the best Windows Phone we've tested in 2014, noticeable shutter lag and a nagging lack of applications still hold it back.

The Best Windows Phone Ever Still Disappoints

I've been a fan of Nokia's Windows Phone-running Lumia line since it debuted with the Lumia 800 in 2011 . The hardware quality and design are always superb, and the software platform continues to show promise. Still, while the Lumia Icon is arguably...

High quality build without a hint of cheapness. With brightness on low, the battery can last well over a day. Quad-core Snapdragon processor for speedy, powerful performance. Awesome typing experience: The Windows Phone auto correct and auto suggest...

Sluggish camera will disappoint shutterbugs hoping to capture fleeting moments. Phone call audio quality isn’t up to snuff. Exclusive to Verizon. Still hampered by limitations of Windows Phone 8. Missing the popular Nokia Glance lockscreen notification...

Nokia Lumia Icon review

Even Nokia's boots were innovative. The company once known as Finnish Rubber Works made well-loved rubber boots long before it made smartphones. And as it shifted from rain-proof soles to...

Gorgeous display ; Fantastic performance ; High-res photos are awesomely malleable

Bland, compromised design ; Still some ecosystem problems ; Middling camera performance in places

I expected more from a phone called Icon

Nokia Lumia Icon (Verizon Wireless)

The Nokia Lumia Icon combines all the best parts of Windows Phones past into one beautifully crafted package.

Beautifully crafted metal and polycarbonate design. Vibrant and sharp 5-inch, full HD display. Blazing-fast performance. Spectacular image quality.

Camera has slow autofocus.

Nokia Lumia Icon review

Good things may come to those who wait, but they also come to large, powerful carriers with tremendous bargaining power. Such is the case with the Nokia Lumia Icon (also known as the 929), a 5-inch, quad-core smartphone with a 20-megapixel shooter and...

The feature-packed Nokia Lumia Icon has a gorgeous screen, a fast processor, and a proven 20-megapixel camera. Low-light image quality is excellent.

Its flat, slab design is uninspiring, and the Icon is a little heavy and thick. Call quality was mediocre, and media hounds won't be able to expand storage with a microSD card.

Buy the Nokia Lumia Icon for its beautiful display and well-rounded features, but skip it if you require gobs of storage, are on a budget, or prefer a power user's OS.

Nokia Lumia Icon Review

Verizon has needed a new Windows Phone 8 flagship, and Nokia was the obvious choice to deliver it. Don't mistake the Lumia Icon for a side-thought in Nokia's smartphone schemes, however. On paper, at least, it takes the key things we loved from AT&T's...

You could accuse Nokia and Verizon of tempting fate, hopping off the traditional numbered Lumia naming scheme and giving their new phone an ambitious title like Icon. To do so invites all manner of comparisons, and while Nokia’s Icon may be one of its...

Nokia Lumia Icon Review

More recently, AT&T continued to reap all of Nokia's fruitful labors with the Lumia 1520, a game changing Windows Phone in respect to its specs and size. Following in tradition, from what it seems, Verizon is laying claim to a modified version – the...

Very good camera ; High-resolution 441 ppi display ; Excellent call quality ; Powerful internal speaker for music playback ; Speedy & consistent performance ; Metallic frame gives it a premium touch

Sharp edges makes it uncomfortable to hold ; Display is difficult to view outdoors ; Underwhelming low lighting camera performance

Verizon customers who are envious of those Nokia Lumia 1520 owners over on AT&T have nothing to be jealous about anymore now that the Nokia Lumia Icon is inbound. Although it’s not necessarily a game changing device, the Icon has all of the goodies to...

Verizon Nokia Lumia Icon review: There's a new Windows Phone champ on the block

Nokia now has Windows Phone devices with internal specs matching the leading smartphones. They take it further with their advanced camera, fantastic display, and more and the Lumia Icon is an excellent smartphone to consider.
