The Oppo R9s finds the midrange mark with enviable battery life and camera shots

Oppo's R9s is proof that midrange phones have flagship features in their sights. Enviable battery life, an excellent camera and some slick software features show how far the brand has come.

The Oppo R9s' 16-megapixel front and rear cameras are all-star performers. It'll go for days on a single charge, and has custom gesture controls.

You'll feel the phone's midrange design in its sharp-edged aluminium body and some clunky software navigation.

Oppo's R9s battery life and camera make it a great midprice buy, even if it isn't as buttery-smooth as more upmarket phones.

OPPO R9s review

Although its camera is the best we've seen at this price point, the OPPO R9s has too many other issues for us to recommend it over competing options. If you're looking for a great camera, we suggest that you either compromise a bit with an alternative...

Camera lives up to the hype ; Impressive battery life ; Super fast VOOC charging provides a 75% charge in 30 minutes ; Thin, light design ; Nice display ; Unlocked dual-SIM support is great to have ; 64GB + microSD expansion

Design and software are derivative ; Sloppy software with inconsistent design language ; Ships with Marshmallow and is moderately unlikely to be updated ; Strange display coating makes cleaning off fingerprints difficult ; Performance is below average...

OPPO R9s: Review of a Social-Friendly Camera Smartphone

OPPO R9s has improved camera to deliver social-friendy images without requiring edits. Overall fast phone UI, reliable full-day battery life

When looking squarely at OPPO R9s and its price of S$679, one might think it seems reasonable, given the predecessor is similarly priced. However, the specs are pretty close to ASUS Zenfone 3 ZE552KL , which retails only at S$498.

Oppo R9s review

Apple face with an Android booty

Premium feel ; Solid build ; Long battery life ; Fast charging ; Great selfie camera

Struggles with gaming ; ColorOS still needs work ; Over-saturated colours

Offering a flagship feel at half the price of its competitors, the Oppo R9s is one of the best mid-range handsets on the market, though don't expect stellar game performance.

Oppo R9s smartphone full review

Is this the best mid-range Android phone?

Looks and feels great ; Ultra-fast fingerprint unlock ; Good value and well featured ; Dual-sim

Bit sluggish running powerful apps ; Annoying camera shutter lag ; Mediocre battery life

There's much to like about the R9s: it does so many things and looks great. It's a bit sluggish in terms of performance and camera, though. But at this price it's still great value.

Oppo R9s review

There are some good reasons to look past the Oppo R9s' alarmingly Apple-ish design. First, this follow-up to the Oppo R9 has got killer battery life. Second, the front and rear 16-megapixel cameras are serious business. And third, you can pick up the...
