Samsung Galaxy A50 review: Value flagship

The Samsung Galaxy A50 has a beefy battery, a big screen, a slick software experience, and solid performance. At just $350, it's an exceptional phone -- but it faces stiff competition from the likes of Google's Pixel 3a. Here's our Galaxy A50 review.

Excellent, modern-looking AMOLED screen ; Decent performance ; Capable, versatile camera ; Day-long battery life ; Affordable

The Galaxy A50 is the budget Samsung phone of your dreams

Samsung Galaxy A50 review

The Galaxy A series has become even more diversified this year. Samsung has already introduced the Galaxy A10, A20, A30, A40, A50, A70, and A80...

Solid build and stunning paintjob

Lacks water-resistance

The addition of the One UI is welcome on a midranger, and we like the direction where it is going. Yes, the Galaxy A50 isn't water-resistant as its predecessors, but it excels elsewhere and makes up for all omissions with a very competitive price. We...

Both phones cost less than $400, but the Galaxy A50's camera and battery win.

Both phones cost less than $400, but the Galaxy A50's camera and battery win.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 has a solid camera, an in-screen fingerprint reader, a headphone jack and a long-lasting battery -- all at an affordable price.

The phone can be buggy at times, its maximum video resolution is only 1080p and the speaker quality is tinny.

Though not water repellant like the Moto G7, the Galaxy A50 is worth the extra $50 for its superior camera and enduring battery.

Samsung Galaxy A50

The Samsung Galaxy A50 offers a handsome design and decent midrange specs, but it's not quite enough to compete with the Google Pixel 3a.

Attractive design. Gorgeous AMOLED display. Solid battery life.

Average performance. Mediocre speaker. Poor fingerprint sensor.

The Samsung Galaxy A50 is a solid midrange phone with good looks, a gorgeous OLED display, and solid battery life. If you're a die-hard Samsung fan in search of a good midrange handset, this is your best bet. If not, you should consider the Pixel 3a....

Samsung Galaxy A50 review: A $350 phone that gives Galaxy a whole new meaning

The Samsung Galaxy A50 is more than a fantastic $350 phone, it's a recipe for a budget phone that you'll love like a premium one.

Big display that's among the best in its class ; Great design with a headphone jack ; Battery life is fantastic

In-screen fingerprint sensor is finicky ; Camera processing doesn't live up to hardware

All of a sudden, budget phones are the rage. Sales of premium phones dip even as prices continue to rise—the Galaxy Note 10+ starts at $1,100—so it’s not surprising that Android phone makers are looking to the lower end of the spectrum for growth....

Samsung Galaxy A50 and Galaxy A30 Review

The new Samsung budget models are here! The Galaxy A50 and A30 deliver gorgeous Super AMOLED screens and solid battery life at reasonable prices...

Stylish design on both; Gorgeous Super AMOLED screens; Extremely solid battery life; Likable Samsung One UI; Headphone jack present

Slightly stuttery performance on both, especially A30; Disappointing loudspeaker quality on both; Camera quality just okay; No 4K video option; Galaxy A50 feels pricey at launch

Samsung Galaxy A50 on Xfinity Mobile review: Affordable powerful Android phone with attractive cellular options Review | ZDNet

While flagship phones are priced over $1,000 it is good to see there are still good quality affordable smartphones. The Galaxy A50 is one third the cost of the latest flagships and Xfinity Mobile offers attractive pricing on the Verizon cellular network.

Gorgeous Super AMOLED display ; Low price ; All-day battery life ; Correct placement of power and volume buttons ; Solid performing camera system

Fingerprint magnet ; No water resistance, even nano coating

Samsung Galaxy A50 review: A clean and optimized user experience

Between the versatile cameras, bloat-free software and rather good gaming performance, the phone will more than suffice for most prospective users. The Samsung Galaxy A50 does it all while offering a really good user experience. Between the versatile...

Galaxy A50 Review: Samsung Finally Made a Great Cheap Phone

The Galaxy A50 offers a big and colorful screen, solid performance and a sleek design for just $350 — even if its camera isn't quite as nice as the Pixel 3a's.

Are those positives in Google's favor worth an extra $50? If you plan on holding onto your next smartphone for as long as possible, I'd definitely say so. But if you're not a fan of the Pixel 3a's more utilitarian design, need a bigger screen but the...
